Alexei Surkov

In the late 1960s, according to known history, there were only two Voskhod spaceflights from the USSR, but unbeknownst to most, there was a third. The third mission was deemed a failure after all contact with the capsule was lost. In reality, a passing still-unknown alien ship grabbed the capsule in a tractor beam, transporting at warp several thousand lightyears away before the capsule’s rotation and it’s remaining fuel for the retrorocket managed to dislodge the craft. However, the crew was left thousands of lightyears from home.

Eventually the capsule crash landed on a habitable world, with another human-looking race, and the four Soviet Cosmonauts aboard–two men and two women–quickly made their way to the top of the mostly-tribal culture, using their technology and knowledge to advance the tribe quickly into the modern age.

Thanks to the tribal values, the world, later named Voskhod (Russian for Ascent or Dawn) after the craft that brought the founders to the world, later became one of community. People worked and shared what they had–bringing the values of the tribal origins into the future–and many of the people enjoyed sharing with each other.

In the last 4 and a half centuries, the tribal bloodlines have diluted that there are few, if any, traces left within the inhabitants who are, for all intents and purposes, human.

Alexei was born in 2373 in a small village on the northern continent of Voskhod, and his childhood was fairly uneventful, though he didn’t originally dream of the stars, but a chance encounter with Starfleet–shortly after Voskhod became Warp-capable–changed his mind, and he later went on to join Starfleet, though many on Voskhod resent his decision.
