“Honestly, I don’t know. I think trying to show the pitfalls I found my time in and trying to help them learn from my mistakes. Granted some mistakes you really just need to learn on your own.” Cain said, as he thought on her question.

She nodded. “Are there mistakes you regret, or would go back and change, if you could?” Liadra asked lightly. While she was going to keep the conversation light in tone, it didn’t mean she couldn’t ask deeper questions. In fact, she liked operating in contrasts and found it created interesting responses from people.

“Regretting mistakes… are a luxury for people with too much time on their hands. I haven’t had much time to think on my past, or what could have been. You move forward, and see where you land. It’s not very logical to dwell on what you can’t change.” Cain said, the last statement sounding very Vulcan like.

“It’s not logical to dwell there, no, but regret is about seeing how you might improve future choices from what you’ve learned. To not have regret is to say that your life can’t ever be improved upon. Wouldn’t you say that is equally illogical?” Liadra asked. Her expression was serious, but her tone was light. She wasn’t being challenging per say, but she clearly wasn’t going to let him off the hook so easily.

“I would have to… what’s that phrase? Agree to disagree? Your past makes you yes, but having past regrets doesn’t mean you can grow from them. People can stagnate just as easy reliving those regrets, and having no regrets doesn’t mean you can’t continue to become a better version of yourself. In the end the only thing I know certain is dwelling in the past can slow you progress forward, so I try not to.”

She smiled. “There’s a difference between learning from something and dwelling on something. You can regret something and not dwell on it. I regret learning to hydrosail given how many broken bones I got out of it, but I don’t dwell on the events. They happened and I moved on. Doesn’t mean I don’t regret not stopping sooner,” she said with a smirk.

“Hydrosail?” Cain said, he wasn’t familiar with that. “What is that? I don’t know if I have ever heard of that.” he asked, curious about what the sport exactly was.
