Kaylee smiled at Kingstone although she internally winced at being called “Mrs.” Not that she really preferred Commander, either, but it was something to get used to as she moved into command from her career in counseling. Speaking of counseling… her eyes drifted to Corvax and her head tilted to the side slightly. Reaching across the table, she gently put her hand on his and asked, “is everything okay, Cadet?”

Dominic snapped out of his trance, shaking his head remains silent for a moment before speaking, “back home I didn’t have anyone but my family, I couldn’t make friends......and this situation reminds me too much of the reason why I didn’t have friends back home....”

Kaylee’s eyebrows furrowed in concern as she processed what Corvax was telling her. Deciding to play slightly dumb, she tilted her head to the side again as she studied him. “Having fun with your coworkers and superiors in a lounge reminds you of not having friends?” she asked lightly.

Dominic sighed gently sitting up straight looking at commander Adrie “last time I did something like this me a my group of close friends were being stupid while playing truth or dare.....I dared my best friend to do something I absolutely regret, and he lost his life because of it. That was the last time I had actually had fun with friends. And that was the night I found out I accepted as cadet.....we celebrated and had fun,until the accident. ” he said as he looked at her then looked down trying to forget about it.

Kaylee gently squeezed the hand that was still under her own. “That must have been a very difficult roller coaster of emotions for you,” she observed simply. “But you have to remember that we are all responsible for our own actions, no matter what others might tell us to do. That’s a really important lesson for Starfleet officers.”
