An amused grin came over Kaylee’s features. “New experiences, hmm? What’s different about the Endeavour than your previous experiences?” she queried with a slightly impish look.

Skye swallowed the mouthful of tea “Are you kidding!?” She said happily. “Cadets? The chance to actually see people at the cusp of their careers in starfleet. That’s so exciting.”

Kaylee laughed heartily in response to Harper-Ryan’s reply. “I agree completely,” she exclaimed, thrilled to have found a kindred spirit on the Endeavour in the new counselor. “I haven’t been here long, but it’s been a delight working with them as well as the senior staff, who are all so focused on training and development.” She paused for a moment to enjoy a sip of her tea. “Where do you see yourself going from here in your career?” she enquired after the brief pause.

Skye nodded empathically as the commander spoke, she considered and held her mug in two hands. “Interesting question,” She said eventually with a slight shrug. “I tend to go where the wind takes me sort of thing, so I’ll see what happens if and when we come tae that bridge.” She grinned.

Kaylee laughed softly. “I’m envious of your ability to simply relax and go with the flow,” she responded with a grin. “Well, I for one am very glad that the wind brought you to the Endeavour. I think you’ll be an excellent addition to our crew here.”

Skye gave an impish grin. “Thank you Commander, I am delighted to be here.” She sipped her tea. “Now that the serious commentary is out of the way…what do you do around here for fun?” She asked

Kaylee gave Harper-Ryan a bemused smile as she sipped her own tea. “Well, I write reports, chase down errant cadets, support fledging department heads…” Her face took an impish turn as well. “What? Those are fun activities…” She paused a few beats before continuing, a bit more seriously, “we have a lovely lounge, I enjoy a beverage there after a shift and a serious dose of people watching, although it’s a bit more difficult to remain incognito as XO.” Her smile turned slightly wry. “How about you, Counselor? What do you do for fun?”

Skye smiled. “Aye i can imagine the pips and the uniform are a dead giveaway.” She listened further. “I read…love a good book.” With a small wave she indicated the books around the office. “I’m also one for painting if i have time but i confess im not much for more physical activities other than Tai chi and yoga.”

Kaylee surveyed the office one more time as Skye indicated the painting, considering the one she had been hanging with a more interested eye this time. “I didn’t realize that you’d painted that yourself,” she commented. “I’m a fan of yoga myself,” she added and then smiled again as her eyes rested on the books. She considered them for a moment before turning her attention to Skye. “Is there anything else you’d like to ask?” she queried with an impish grin, knowing that she had asked just as many questions during the evaluation.
