Sweat was more apparent on Buckingham’s brow . Despite his best efforts panic was beginning to creep in, though his tried his utmost not to let it show. Everything that they had tried so far should have made a positive difference to the patient, but it hadn’t.
With this dire situation only worsening, Tom was struck by the worse possible feeling as a Doctor… He didn’t know what to do. This was truly a most unusual situation.Lt. (J.G) Thomas Buckingham - CMO
Dominic was at a loss he couldn’t find out why this man wasn’t getting better, so Dominic took a step back and held his hands up at shoulder height and sigh “I don’t think we can save him sir....we tried everything we could and clearly its just not working” he said feeling he failed to save the man,for Dominic this was a first,he had never encountered this kind of problem before.

An orderly nearby turned at the sound of a transporter effect at that moment as the away team with survivors beamed in. The people were easy to tell the difference between as the prospector crew had what looked to be ancient EVA suits, looking more like deep sea suits than for space. Seconds later a second beam in brought in the rest. One was sitting clutching what looked to be a large stone that clunked to the deck as gravity set in. By the angle of one of his legs it had a nasty break. “Looks like y’all will have to put on your big doctor pants for this,” he murmured.
- WookieeParon helped the injured over to biobeds for the doctors, and made sure to put them as far away as possible from the other patients currently in sickbay. He was told there was a dispute between the two crews and he knew this wasn’t the place to raise tensions. He nodded to the initial security team and tapped his commbadge. =/\=Lieutenant Paron to Cadet Davis, report to sickbay=/\=
“The two of you can leave when Davis arrives, ensigns” he told the two security ensigns so they could get back to their duties.
Lieutenant (J.G) Torias Paron, CoS
The struggle out of the EVA suits was challenging though it allowed everyone in sickbay to be able to get sorted and ready. Of the four, two were more challenging to get out of the suits - one with the broken leg and the other with serious shoulder injuries - collar bone, forearm and dislocation. He was able to remain conscious through it by virtue of having been administered a pain reliever - a rather powerful one and dubious on safety called Cormetizone. The other was the man with the broken leg had not been administered anything having been trapped in the back. His injury was limited to the nasty break.
The current dilemma with the first crew was precariously hanging on with the low blood levels.
Wookiee=/\=Aye, sir. I’ll be down there shortly.=/\=
Lucy jogged through the sickbay doors with a slight amount of sweat dripping down her face and neck. “Cadet Davis, reporting as ordered. What do you need, sir?” She smiles before looking around and seeing the injuries, then sighing a breath of regret and grief. “Oh… is… everything ok?”
Cadet Lucy Davis, Security Officer
“We need to make sure these two crews don’t go at each other. I’ve been told that there was a dispute before they had an accident, so I don’t want to take any chances,” Paron said indicating the two crews from the 69er and golddigger. “Thankfully, their too hurt to do anything right now, but we’ll need to keep an eye on both of them while they are visitors to our ship,” he added as he looked towards the two crews briefly. “Keep an eye on the crew of the 69ers and ensure no trouble is started. I’ll take the Golddigger crew. They might be on board for a little while, considering their ships were destroyed at the asteroid,” he said quietly to Davis in a corner of sickbay, out of earshot of the two crews.
Lieutenant (J.G) Torias Paron, CoS
“I understand, sir. I’ll keep them as calm and collected as I possibly can. But, if I may, why are they at each other’s throats? If I know, it may help me mediate the… situation we’ve found ourselves in.” She said quietly back slightly eyeing the injured crew.
Cadet Lucy Davis, Security Officer
“All I know it was some sort of dispute was over the asteroid that just broke up. Each one believes its theirs by right. We’re just here to provide support. Just waiting on the doctor to let us know their condition right now, we’ll notify the captain as soon as something can be done and the doctors have finished treating them,” Paron replied simply. He wasn’t in on the full details himself, just that there was some sort of dispute when he suggested bringing them to sickbay, and so precautions were taken.
Lieutenant (J.G) Torias Paron, CoS
Perhaps a bit of trouble that may arise came from two of the crew members. One, from the 49’er, the first group who came in was uninjured, or much less so. This Andorian spied the new group coming in and headed over to Torias and Lucy. Meanwhile, another who was from the recent arrivals on the Golddigger saw this and hopped down from the biobed.
Both of them spokealmost at the same time as they approached, pointing to the other.
“They’re murdering pirates!”
“The pox on the scurvy scum!”
And made to launch at one another …
WookieeParon sighed as they made a move. He had a feeling something was going to happen. He quickly responded by stepping in front of the Andorian, blocking the path. “Right now, both crews are hurt. We will hear both sides, I promise, but right now our main concern is ensuring people survive. Anything beyond that right now can wait!” he said, the last bit with emphasis. He quickly turned to the doctor and said “Inform the captain when the two captains from the ship have been cleared medically, I’m sure she’ll want to speak to them both,” he said to Corvax over his shoulder, staying in between the two agitated visitors.

Unwilling to abandon the patient who life was still in the hanging in the balance quite yet, Buckingham stood wracking his brain for answers… there must be an explanation for all of this.
“Cadet…” He said addressing Corvax “Make a start treating the new patients, I’ll be with you shortly.”
Returning to the patient on the biobed, Tom made an inquiry of the Computer =/\= Computer, is there any reason at all why this patient is not responding at all to the treatments we have attempted so far? =/\=
Tom asked the Computer, hoping that if it was something blindingly obvious that it would make him aware of it. If the answer to the question was fruitless Tom would have to consider suspending his treatments, but he didn’t want to give up without putting ample effort in first. It was an awful long time since Tom had been in front line Medicine, when meant it had been a long time since he had lost a patient, deep inside himself he wasn’t sure that it was something he was prepared to face. But Corvax was right, there is no point in trying to push water uphill.

Dominic bit his lip nodding hesitating slightly “yes sir right away.” He said as he walked over to the patients and checked their current conditions. But he couldn’t stop thinking about why the man wasn’t responding to the meds,he had started to get a feel in the back of his head and he knew what exactly the feeling was. Guilt. He was feeling guilty for not trying hard enough to find the reason for not being able to heal the man. He felt as if it was his fault. This was a common trait for him. He had always felt this way as a kid when he couldn’t do something with success in this form of context. Dominic took a breather before focusing on the patient’s conditions

Lucy quickly jumped to help calm the crews down. “Can you two please just worry about your crew for now? Doesn’t matter whose fault it was right now, what matters is there are hurt people that need some peace and quiet. If you start a fight in here more people will get injured and you’ll stop the doctors from saving them. So be civilized and set a good example for your people?”
