Taking a slow sip of her beverage, Kaylee looked lost in thought for a moment as her mind raced back through her Starfleet career. Her lips curved up into a happy smile at the memories, but she soon returned her attention to those looking at her expectantly around the table. “My first posting was Starbase 202,” she finally responded. “I spent quite a while there as part of a diplomatic attachment before a tour as a ship’s counselor, a first officer position, and then coming here as counselor and then first officer.” She grinned slightly and added, “it’d take me a lot longer to go through my entire career than the young Mr. Paron here.”

Dominic smiled listening as he looked towards Commander Adrie showing quite a bit of interest in starbase 202. “What was it like at starbase 202?” He asked showing much curiosity on the subject he was always fascinated in hearing about other ships, starbase and others experiences in space.

K’Resh nodded her head to the XO in respect and made a mental note to check in with her properly later on. “My first assignment was the USS Michigan,” she said as she thought back to how awkward she had found it initially being the only Klingon on board.

While they were talking, the old waiter came back with the drinks on a serving plate. “Here you go!” Smiled to the group, laying down the crystal glasses fulfilled with liquids of various tastes.
When he left, Kai thanked him and took his Chinotto sipping it looking around.
“I’ve never been on a starbase, before.” Said “Also, what Class was the Michigan, Lieutenant?” Referring to K’Resh, curious about the ship.

OOC (Out of Character): Since everyone has jumped into the thread that was participating before, I’m going to go ahead and trim (snip) the post by removing some of the previous writing.

IC (In Character):

Kaylee smiled happily as the eager cadets barraged her with questions. This feeling of excitement and curiosity was exactly why she had requested the counselor position on the ship and then been so happy to accept the first officer position when it had been offered to her. “A starbase is definitely a different environment than any of the starships that Starfleet has to offer. I truly enjoyed and valued the experience of being on what was essentially a floating metropolis,” she answered, swirling her wine glass methodically as she responded and then punctuating her statement with a sip.

Glancing over at the Klingon who had joined the group, she nodded to her, having identified her as the new Chief Engineer, but noting that she hadn’t had a chance to speak one on one yet. Gathering her thick hair, she wound it around her hand and rested it on her shoulder as she asked, “what would be your first choice assignment after the Endeavour? Outpost in the middle of nowhere? Bustling starbase? Small science ship? Big warship?” She leaned in to hear their responses, interested in what each would pick. “You department heads too,” she added, not willing to let the lieutenants off the hook from her query.

Paron was taken aback when Kaylee asked him as well, he smiled and responded “well, way to throw in ‘set the example’ Commander,” with a chuckle. “I’ll be honest, being posted on a space station is something that would be different. I’ve gotten so used to moving around these days that being stationairy for a bit might be a good idea,” he responded with a slight laugh as he finished. He hadn’t thought about it much, but he knew two could play at the Commanders game. “And yourself Commander? Intend on being a first officer aboard an academy ship for the rest of your career?” he asked with a cheeky smile. If he wasn’t going to get off the hook, then he wasn’t going to let anyone else off the hook either.

Kaylee’s face lit up in delight at Paron’s response to her question and she grinned. “What a fantastic question, Lieutenant, I can’t imagine what inspired it” she responded unabashedly. “We’ll see what the next few years brings. I didn’t expect to be serving as first officer again quite so quickly, but I’m here for the journey, not the destination.” She smiled charmingly at the younger man and let go of her hair, tossing it back and finishing off her glass of wine, indicating to the server that she wanted another.

Dominic of course was very intrigued on the conversation,he loved hearing about different places and different positions from all over the galaxy “now that has to amazing commander. Now what do you mean by it looking like a metropolis? ” he said smiling as he completley forgot about getting himself a drink. He was to intrested in the talk between everyone around him, Dominic sat there thinking and started to get lost in his thoughts about starbase 202

Kaylee’s head tilted toward Corvax and she had to smile at his curiosity and excitement. “It’s amazing how much Starfleet can fit on one starbase. There are shops and other recreational activities to go with your normal operations roles. It’s truly a different experience than the shipboard life. I highly recommend it if you ever have the opportunity.” Noticing that the cadet hadn’t ordered a beverage yet, she flagged the server down who had returned with her new glass of pinot. “What would you like to drink?” she asked, nodding at the server who stared at Corvax expectantly.
