: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Keena stepped out of the turbolift doors after the lift deposited her on the bridge, striding with purpose to the center chair, knowing the Captain was presently in Shuttle Bay One, it would be acceptable if she sat in that chair.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Running her hands briefly through her chin length black hair, hoping her transfer orders were sent through properly otherwise she was in for some fun, regarding the officers present on the bridge, “I’m Commander Keena Vahl, newly assigned first officer as of, well, five minutes ago. I need a report in the situation, I understand there’s an intruder alert in Shuttle Bay One, what do we know?”
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : ~Keena Vahl~
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : A person at ops turned. “Welcome aboard Commander. The Captain is in the Shuttle Bay now with a Temporal Agent named Hyde. A security group is there along with a couple of engineers. There was reported to be a temporal tunnel that exited in the Bay. Right now we show a power loss in the Bay but don’t know why yet.”
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Wookiee
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Let’s see if we can’t figure it out, the intruder alert sounded for there, let’s look at ways to figure out what might be going on down there without jeopardizing the Captain and our people down there, I’d rather not try to contact them yet in case the comm call would tip off whatever intruder is down there,” Keena ordered firmly, tapping a button on a status screen, thankfully it appeared her transfer orders had been uploaded into the system and it recognized her command codes, “Can we run a sensor sweep of the area?”
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : ~Keena Vahl~
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : The sensor sweep would light up all the crew who were there, and identify the ‘unidentified’ person as the mysterious Mr Hyde. There was additionally a spike in a section of the shuttle bay that glowed indicating the chroniton spike. There were lesser chroniton emissions about Mr Hyde, and, curiously, a larger spike of this at the point of one of the security crewmen.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : A basic scan of systems would show that there was no damage present to cause any power loss. Indeed, power was getting there. Where it was going was anyone’s guess; it was almost like it was being sucked out but to where?
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : On the main screen was a rough figure map of where everyone was in relation to the shuttle bay, and where the chroniton emissions were.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Wookiee
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Keena pursed her lips and furrowed her brow as she examined her options. She wanted to avoid interrupting the crew down there, but she still needed to learn if they needed help. The last thing she wanted was to put her new Captain under undue risk less than an hour on her new assignment. Even worse would be to risk the rest of the ship at large if they couldn’t get a handle on whatever the heck was going on down there. She’d witnessed just how catastrophic the wrong decision in command could be, she’d struggled with the memory of remembering an officer she was supposed to respect as a man who nearly cost her and the rest of the crew their lives.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : The Trill Commander took a breath and tapped her badge, =^=Bridge to Shuttle Bay, we’re picking up a chroniton spike down there, do you require assistance?=^=
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : ~Keena Vahl~
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : =^=Acknowledged, I’ll report back once the scan is complete.=^= Keena replied to the instructions that came back from the shuttle bay.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Turning to the officers on the bridge, “Scan the ship for any other chroniton signals, trace any signals to Ensign Butler’s badge.” She ordered firmly.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : ~Keena Vahl~
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Whoever was scanning would pick up a faint chroniton signal. By the look of it it was in the Jeffries tubes - and it was moving. Roughly speaking it looked to be heading in the direction of the Shuttle bay …
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Wookiee
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : =^=Bridge here, we picked up another signal, it’s moving to the shuttle bay, orders sir?=^= Keena was pacing on the bridge, feeling somewhat anxious about the situation. The Trill Commander then turned to the security officer, “Have additional security teams standing by, just in case we need more muscle down there.”
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : ~Keena Vahl~
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : =/\= Send back up here right away. It’s better than nothing. [Johnson gave a quick summary of what he had just been told.] Also, find out if Security has any information recovered from their murder investigation - there might be a clue to stopping these things. And see if there’s a way to interfere with the chroniton particles - they’re connected to that somehow. =/\=
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : -Captain Johnson, CO
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : =^=Acknowledged,=^= Keena replied.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Tapping her badge again, =^=Bridge to security, I need some security officers down to the shuttle bay, as many as you can spare.=^=
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Turning back to the matter at hand, “Right, search the database for anything that might work to disrupt the chroniton particles, we need to see if we can lock this down now.” She ordered firmly. Taking a seat in the center seat, she started to conduct her own research.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : ~Keena Vahl~
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : bump
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : There was not much that was in the database. Chroniton elements were certainly a study, though more in the lines of utilizing them and harnessing - most of which were theories without solid evidence to actually working. But disrupting them? There were two small essays that a grad student had done suggesting that if there were chroniton particles there might be anti-chroniton particles. There were several suggestions on how one might ‘collect’ such particles - though it was more based on how one might produce them out of current ones. The second essay had supposed that anti-chroniton particles were simply chronitons of which the half lives produced the A-C particles and at the full 50% mark they simply cancelled each other out and ceased to exist. Thus, capturing them would be challenging and a need to be .. quick.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : OOC: I presented some ideas there, but not necessarily solutions. I don’t have a pigeon hole of a how to disrupt such particles mentioned above. However, a good run of imagination on your par can go a long way to filling in the blanks. .. Gene
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Keena pursed her lips, science was never her strongest suit, though Vahl had a few lifetimes of scientists.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Can we somehow capture and remove the chroniton particles?” She queried the bridge staff, “Remove them entirely from the shuttle bay?” She wasn’t sure about collecting anti-chronitrons, but maybe if they could remove them…
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : ~Keena Vahl~
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Suddenly the red alert claxon sounded and the ship shuddered.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Sir, I have energy anomalies from the shuttle bay. They are spinning off into systems in the ship. All … random and causing havoc. If they mess with something critical …” The NE redhead at the engineering station left that open …
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Wookiee
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Can we isolate the shuttle bay systems from the rest of the ship?” Keena spoke, “If so, do it now if we can seal it off, it might help. In the meantime, let’s see if we can figure out how to dampen the chrontiton particles and maybe stop whatever the heck might be going on down there.”
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : ~Keena Vahl~
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “I’ll try. The stuff is acting like lightning. Just going wherever it has a lead.” She bent to the task, then added, “Sir, the CSO would be better suited for chroniton stuff like that. I majored in mechanical and warp physics. The only thing I did during chroniton class was sleep through it.” She hoped her ‘time’ joke would fly .. even as she cursed under her breath as another discharge ran through the lower decks.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Wookiee
: : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Do your best,” Keena urged, “And I agree, I was originally in the security track before switching to command a few years back, so chronitons are far from my strong suit, “Work on isolating the shuttle bay and saving the rest of our systems. I’ll look through the personnel roster and see if I can’t find someone who might have a bit more experience with these time particles.”
: : : : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Stepping back to the command chair, “Computer, identify all personnel assigned to the USS Endeavor who have a background in science, further filter results based upon chroniton research, if there are any hits, display on the console by the Captain’s Chair.” She ordered. It was worth a shot she supposed.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : :

: : : : : : : : : : : : “Sir, we’re receiving several reports of injuries. So far they are minor to moderate by responding medical staff.”
: : : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : : “As well, sir, we have other reports of panels overloading. The locations are coinciding with injury reports.”

: : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : =^=Vahl to the Chief Science Officer, please report to the bridge immediately, we have a situation.=^= Keena tapped her badge, “How’s it coming locking this thing down?” she asked for an update, mentally going through every piece of information she had on time particles. In all of Vahl’s lifetimes, none of them had been temporal scientists, they’d been super smart folks, but she felt sort of useless right now and it wasn’t a feeling she was overly accustomed to or really enjoyed.
: : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : ~Keena Vahl~
: : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : =^=Understood. Science, out.=^= The response was short, however there was hardly any reason to prolong such a rudimentary phrase. The Andorian quickly made her way to the Bridge, curiosity plagued her mind, but it was easily covered by the characteristic look of an emotionless face. Stepping onto the bridge, a few minutes later, she made her way towards the Executive Officer.
: : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : Lt. Eshrallias
: : : : : : : : : : CSO
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : “You know anything about chroniton particles Lieutenant?” Keena asked, watching the officer approach, she usually liked pleasantries, but they were kind of pressed for time, “I think whatever’s going down in the shuttlebay is threatening to destroy the ship and we need to lock it down somehow. We’re trying to isolate the systems, but we really need someone to work on actually resolving the issue down there. I’m hoping you might have some ideas on how to tackle the chroniton particles down there, I think if we can remove them, we can stop whatever is transpiring down there.”
: : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : ~Keena Vahl~
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : “Of course,” Eshrallias responded, simply, to her initial question. Chronitons were perhaps the most incomprehensible of rudimentary particles. Despite merely being a subatomic particle that managed to emit a temporal field, there was far more to the Chroniton, than met the eye. For a few seconds, she thought about it. “Do you mind explaining exactly what is going on in the shuttlebay, sir?” Eshrallias inquired, “I am assuming there has been temporal displacement, a creation of a breach in time (a wormhole), or some kind of increased speed of the time in that area?”
: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : Lt. Eshrallias
: : : : : : : : CSO
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : “From what I know, we have two temporal beings essentially fighting it out down there, it’s really wreaking havoc on our systems as you might guess and we’re getting ship wide injuries from people taking blasts from consoles that overload,” Keena explained, “We know there’s a noticeable spike in chroniton particles in the shuttle bay, which we suspect is the attempt by these beings to return to their own temporal dimension,” she paused, “I’m guessing, based on my limited expertise in science of course, that we might be able to stop whatever is going on there by neutralizing the particles, I read briefly that anti-chrontons can do that, but I really wanted to get someone who is more…learned on this subject to help us troubleshoot this. I’m not sure why these beings are fighting it out down there, but it may be buying us some time to get the upper hand on them.”
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : ~Keena Vahl~
: : : : : :
: : : : : : The engineer chimed in with a report at last. “It looks like modulating frequencies on the force fields are helping, but that is a strain on the emitters. They’re just not as adaptable as the shields that way. I’m getting less energy spikes getting through. So long as one of those doesn’t mess with the engines or life support we should be fine.” She didn’t sound ‘that’ optimistic there as the lights flickered on the bridge.
: : : : : :
: : : : : : Wookiee for NE engineer
: : : : :
: : : : : Eshrallias rose her head, when the lights apparent flickered. She took in the information given to her by the XO and, indirectly, by the young Ensign. “You are not wrong, sir. In science, it is quite often that a positive must always be counteracted by a negative, in order to become neutral. This is the same for electrons and protons, or positive magnetism and negative magnetism. However, certain bonds, require a field to stabilize the bond. Seeing as chronitons, while an apparently harmless substance to anyone beyond the few metaphysical beings, happen to be a complex and fragile particle, I would submit that a temporal field would need to be put in place. This was minimize the impact of their neutralization on the environment around them, specifically on our reality.” She paused,”The question remains, are you also attempting to return these creatures to their original placement?”
: : : : :
: : : : : Lt. Eshrallias
: : : : : CSO
: : : :
: : : : “It’s most likely the easiest, but I think they are hostile as well, so if it comes down to the ship or them, the ship and its crew will come first,” Keena explained.
: : : :
: : : : ~Keena Vahl~
: : :
: : : “I see,” Eshrallias contemplated this for several moments. “Anyone in that room would likely be locked within the temporal field, as it is incredibly tedious to place a field around each individual particle. We simply don’t have the time for that illogic. So, when and if the field is placed up, our personnel would need to be rid of the location. I’m not certain if you would ask the hostiles to retreat, as well. This is simply a warning that it would be safer to keep our people out of the room, if we choose the neutralization route.”
: : :
: : : Lt. Eshrallias
: : : CSO
: :
: : “Is there another option? The hostiles may prevent our people from vacating the room.” Keena asked.
: :
: : ~Keena Vahl~
:
: “Yes, I would assume there are, but it would likely be far less efficient and effective as the temporal field and neutralization. That being said, sir, I can look into it.” She nodded, “If worst comes to worst, we may be able to remove our officers via transporter, resulting in their placement away from the hostiles.”
