It was the first time that he used the transporter. As he was beamed up on the pad he felt like a weird feeling mixed with his actual feeling for the departure. When he finally materialized in the transporter room, he was clearly surprised.

“Thanks, sir.” Replied to the operator, an ensign with a yellow uniform and only a pip on his collar.
He would take then the way to go to the sickbay amazed by the beautiful surroundings of the ship. He thought, will this be my home for some time? Pathetic question he thought again.
Took the turbolift and telling the computer to take him to Deck 6, he was starting to feel nervous.

Exited the doors of the turbolift, he directly went to the main sick bay with a fast pace. Arrived to the door of it, he took a deep breath and entered:
It was not the fanciest sickbay he saw in the simulations, but that was a real sickbay and not just an imaginary computer-made place. Full of personnel with his same uniform color and various pips indicating their grade.

He was apparently indulgent to ask: “who’s the doctor here?” And so he just got inside and walked to a nurse who was passing by his path and asked for the doc.
And there he was as he asked this question, a men whose uniform was a bit different. In fact he wore a white lab coat, seemed the most authoritarian and was the most busy men in this moment.
“Afternoon, Sir. Cadet Kai Kingstone, reporting for my boarding physical.”

Buckingham drew himself away from the work he was doing and strode over to meet the Cadet.

“Pleased to meet you Cadet” Tom held out his hand for a hand shake. “I’m Doctor Buckingham - Chief Medical Officer here on the Endeavor. Follow me this way and we’ll get your Physical underway.”

Tom walked across the Sickbay, picking up a PADD and a Medical Tricorder on his way and stood next to a Biobed. “Take a seat on here, would you” Tom said warmly as he patted the bed next to him.

After the hand shake as the Doc said to follow him, Kai was unsure if to talk or not to introduce himself to Mr. Buckingham. He wanted to say to him “I’m new, I am fresh from the Academy,” but he thought he already knew and that it was unnecessary. After a brief hesitation he followed him walking across the Sickbay, letting Kai to see a bit of everything. Vials, fancy tricorders, fancy nurse… no time for this! They seemed all filled with work. Who was taking care of patients, who instead was computing stuff in and signing reports.

Then when they stopped nearby a Biobed, Kai looked at it and as asked he sat on the bed and said “I need to say that this Biobed is comfortable and an interesting piece of technology.” smiling afterwards. “I’ve studied by myself a bit the functioning.”

Buckingham smiled as the Cadet spoke. The memories of once being so new and Green arose in his mind for a brief moment.
“They truly are a wonderful piece of technology” Tom said “They’re often taken for granted, but without them things would be much more complicated.” Tom paused a moment to organise his things before he continued.
“Now then” He continued “Before we proceed with your medical, have you any aliments or conditions you wish to raise with me now that aren’t expressed on your medical history?” Tom asked as he began to pull up Cadet Kingstone’s Medical History up on the PADD.
