“Do it, Commander, assemble a team, break out the EVA suits,” she nodded to her XO.

~Cassandra Rixan~

Kanto nodded. With the skill of someone used to piloting through stellar phenomena, the Vulcan plotted and executed a course towards the ships. He kept an eye on the sensors as he did so, avoiding any of the larger asteroids that the Endeavour’s shilelds could not handle.

This far in the ice-asteroids were tighter but for the forseeable period the Endeavor could navigate around them. The peril was that of the gravitational pull taking in the asteroid that the two prospector ships were in. They had limited time there to extract them - no more than an hour to get down there and get the survivors out before the gravity either pulled them in to crash or that the asteroid would break up from the forces.

Liz nodded. “We can save time by beaming in then straight thru bulkheads, if need be, to get out. And those we can stabilize quick enough, should be able to be beamed out. Life signs aren’t strong enough to lock onto now, but should be able to get locations. With your permission?” She rose from her chair preparing for the final go.

“Permission granted,” Cassandra nodded, “I’ll leave it in your capable hands to decide the size and who will go over with you.”

Liz nodded and tapped her comm as she exited the bridge. She called to engineering and medical, listing qualifications needed from those who join her in transporter room two. It has the most EVA suits readily available. And others were close enough as needed.

Torias turned to the XO as she headed towards the turbolift, “Do you want me on the away team as well?” he asked as she was about to leave.

Cassandra turned her attention back to the situation at hand, trusting her XO to decide whether she required the services of the COS.

Kanto steadily piloted, noticing that his skills were needed at the navigation console in case any split second decisions needed to be made. Since he had the sensors at his command, he would be able to make those decisions ‘on a dime’ and the humans say.

“Captain, science/navigation reports ready,” he announced.

“Good, keep things steady, we may need to act quickly if the situation degrades further,” Cassandra nodded.

~Cassandra Rixan~

“Aye, sir,” Kanto responded, keeping close watch on the controls.

Kaylee made her way onto the bridge, choosing to hang toward the back, out of the way of the bustle. She hadn’t had a chance to observe the crew in action while she excavated herself from her mountain of paperwork, so having a moment to watch the interactions between the crew members as they completed their tasks was invaluable to her.

At the moment the ice asteroid was descending in an arc toward the frozen giant planet. It too was drawing in other asteroids which was making the situation more interesting and stressful for Kanto. Keeping the area of space clear was going to get progressively more difficult not to mention keeping the Endeavor safe. Plots on the main viewer showed smaller asteroids coming in from all (rear) angles as they were drawn in by the gravity well. One which Kanto was feeling as well.

“This is looking interesting,” Cassandra remarked as she continued to watch the situation unfold, hopefully, they could get out of this without too much issue.

A small bead of sweat started to form on the Vulcan’s forehead as he tried to maintain his speed and rotation, letting the shields handle the smaller chunks of asteroid. “Computer, set port and starboard thrusters to manual control,” he said, as he pushed the thrusters to keep them from sinking into the gravity well. “Captain, I am not sure how long I can hold us here in our present position. You may want to tell the away team to hurry.”
