Cain had found his quarters, and wanted to see the Captain first before he did his exams. He never minded exams, but they could be tedious. He expected almost all felt the same. Bureaucracy brought redundancy but at least when he meet the Captain he could break up some of the monotony. Paging at the door he waited for the Captain to answer the page.

“Enter,” said the distracted Captain, as the doors to the ready room opened.

Captain Johnson was sitting behind a desk at the far-end of the ready room, brow furrowed as he looked at a computer terminal at his desk. His right hand was absent-mindedly scratching his beard. Closer to the door were two couches facing each other at a 90-degree angle, with a couple PaDDs on one of the couches.

Captain Johnson pressed a button on the terminal and looked up. “Lieutenant Treyarch,” he said in recognition, standing up. “Welcome aboard. Please, have a seat.”

Cain nodded and entered as he took a seat. “Thank you sir, it’s a pleasure to be aboard.” Cain said as he looked around just briefly, taking in the decor of the room.

“Any difficulties?” Johnson asked. “We’re in the process of re-supplying at the moment, and bringing on new crew. It’s a bit chaotic on Endeavour at the moment.”

“None at all, just happy to be aboard.” Cain said, his tone even as he spoke. Cain didn’t seem to want to say anything, but he didn’t seem withdrawn either. He came off as just a naturally quiet person as he waited for the Captain to ask any additional questions.
