Liadra smirked. “And why would I do that? After all, I’m wearing it too.”

Moving over to the second of the two boats, she crouched down and checked that it was still securely tied to the dock. There was still movement though, so she knew she’d have to check her balance as she stepped into the small boat. Looking up, she smiled at the bright green and blue sail that would allow her to move swiftly across the water.

One foot stepped in and the boat shifted. Don’t be afraid of the boat. You are one with the boat, she reminded herself as she shifted her weight towards the centre, crouching low and dragging her other foot into the boat. “Aha!” she explained jubilantly. I’m in!” she said, clearly surprised by the fact.

“That’s easy for you to say, humans can be at one with anything… but what if it doesn’t want to be at one with me?” Treyarch said, feeling uneasy as he tried to keep balance.

Liadra’s head turned sharply with a look of surprise. “Did you just read my mind?” she asked with amusement. She didn’t really mind, but ti did surprise her. She didn’t know that many Vulcans that could do it, let alone Cain himself. At best she thought maybe he’d have some sort of empathic sense from his Vulcan heritage, but even that would be a stretch.

“Not at all… it’s a fact. Humans tend to be the most resilient of species. You survive, or find a way to survive, anything. Including this…” he said as he got him, bracing himself as he began to see if he could get the hang of it.

She grinned. “Well, lucky for you, you can sit for the time being. Not that that hasn’t proven to also be a problem for me, but go and sit or kneel on one knee in the well of the boat. We then need to untie and get ourselves out of the marina. The wind is pretty good, so we should be able to get some decent speed once we hit open water. Let me know when you feel comfortable and I’ll show you the sails.”

“Just brace myself, aren’t you adventurous? You know there is better ways to feel adrenaline rushes that don’t cause injury. You every try Pilates?”
