Johnson sat down at his desk terminal just as a message came through from the bridge. =/\= Captain, channel from the SeaHawk is being sent to your ready room now. =/\=

Johnson looked over at his terminal with the usual UFP seal on display…

The hail was successful and within moments the viewscreen came to life in the ready room. =^= SeaHawk here. Koenig speaking. =^= He had the pips of a Captain and wore a standard issue ‘jacket’ over his uniform tunic, zipped up half way. As the scene came into focus, Koenig, or Matthew Koenig as the manifest would show, sat in his chair. He was of middle years, his face just now showing some ‘cragginess’ that would only get more pronounced as the years went by. He had pronounced brows, blue grey eyes and a dark complexion on a wide face. It might be thought he was of the South Central area of Earth by his appearance. What stood out was his dark hair, parted to one side, but having the front portion of his hair a lock of white that then blended back into the rest of his hair.

Once seated he continued. =^= Welcome to Craxus II, Endeavour. She’s a busy little system but she’s our home away from home. If you do a frequency search for 187.9 you will ping the beacon on the dock. That’s your guide to it. We’re nearing it and will be there inside two more hours. =^= Behind him the bridge was rather more decorative than most with gilded edges and paneling between the viewscreens and LCars displays. The lighting was dimmer than might be typical but not uncomfortably. Crew moved about normally, though, in the background, with the occasional curious glance at the screen in passing.

=^= Excellent. Things are not falling apart, but the world does have a way of taxing systems. She’s a mystery that we’ve only started to explore. =^= Koenig replied.

Before continuing, Johnson passed along the relevant information about the dock to the bridge.

=/\= So tell me, Captain. What should I know about Craxus II - beyond the usual Starfleet briefings? =/\= Johnson didn’t want to get into the security briefing he received. But he still felt it was important to hear from the ‘man in the spot’ so to speak, and get a better idea of what SeaHawk was up to while the crew began the initial preparations.

=^= We are an exploratory vessel. Essentially a converted starship that works underwater. Given the properties of the planet it is an exercise in trying out new things to adapt which can be potentially used on other worlds. There is some indicators that this world was not always a water world so we are engaging in two archaeological digs. =^= He paused there and continued. =^= The world gives out a kind of radiation that is near to the molecular, uh, I’ll say frequency, of replicated material, and causes that to break down. So the ship and everything in her here has been built without use of replicators - or what we have thought. It is amazing just how pervasive replicated goods are nowadays and we are finding that things break down that we had thought to be solid. And in the same way we require supply of things that we otherwise would have just called up the computer to make such as clothes. =^=

He considered the next. =^= Because we’re out of sight and mind for the most part, we’re also a research station conducting secret and not so secret studies. Because we are isolated without as much communications with much of anything, we do studies here that are rather off the grid. Officially we are a Starfleet science vessel both patrolling the waters and studying the world and keeping an eye on the various people and ships that happen around the system and do conduct rescues and aid more often than we like. Unofficially we do the sneaky stuff that people really don’t know about. but usually guess at as all good conspiracy theorists do. =^=
