Shuttle Bay - Main Sim

The Drachin snarled .. just then a ceiling section burst out which was more heard than seen in the darkness. “Because we are exiled and puny and need easy food rather than that which would pose a challenge.” The second Drachin had arrived .. but the voice seemed more disembodied than anything in the darkness.

Wookiee ..

The noise startled Camille who forced herself to breath deeply and calm her heart rate while she reached into her took kit and very quietly moved her fingers across to the cutting beam and grabbed it, ready to use it as a weapon if needed. She glanced at the tricorder readings.

~NE Butler, Engineering

Bump

Johnson tried to think on the limited information he was being given. These entities were exiles, and were relatively weak - which is why they were trying to consume the crew. He wasn’t sure how to use the ‘exile’ information yet. But them being weak… they had to travel to a time without modern technology to ‘eat’. Why were they here? Was it unintentional? How does this relate to the murder of the crewman?

…And where was the additional support and information from the bridge?

He aimed his phaser in the direction of where he heard the second Drachin. “Don’t move. It may be dark, but do you really want to risk being hit with this. I think it’s going to do more than just… ‘sting’.”

-Captain Johnson, CO

There was a pause. When the voice came again it was more to the left of where it was. “Foolish. Foolish to trick me to coming here, brother. Old Terra was much safer than here. The life forces are stronger, sweeter, and the technological rewards greater. But more dangerous. Fool!” it said. Suddenly there was a ‘bolt’ that shot out and struck the possessed crewman. Alyss was thrown to the side into the darkness as the bolt consumed the crewman. “You may stay. I will return and close your trap door behind me.”

Hyde remarked, “No. Two of you spread across time like that? You’ve disrupted the continuum already.”

“We make our own, puny traveler,” the first replied. “The conduit are extensions of ourselves.”

When Ang had sent Butler to the cargo bay, she hadn’t counted on the epicenter of trouble ending up there. As Ang read the console, her hackles raised. The particle count was higher in the bay than anywhere else on the ship, currently. Grabbing a phaser from the closet before snatching up her tricorder and bolted for the cargo bay.

A moment later the half Klingon arrived and glanced around the door frame into the bay, she tried to see where NE Butler was and what was happening. The last thing she wanted was to put herself in the sights of some insane enemy.

Chief Engineer

The bay was dark; the lights dimming or, at best emitting an occasional flicker of light to show the crew for where they were. Voices appeared to come out of the darkness, but the scanners would show them up bright. The Captain and the ‘invesigator’ were not far apart and facing them; security present but guarded, and Alyss, another engineer just picking herself up from the deck.

Suddenly the two of the creatures rushed each other. In the darkness bolts and ripples of energy spun out from where they were. Others curled into the deck and disappeared. One caught a security NE and flung him several meters into the bulkhead.

For the moment they were oblivious to the other crewmen as they battled one another ..

Ang took a moment to take it all in. Just before the fight began, she headed for the engineer at her box. As the security officer grunted and fell to the floor, Ang shoved the NE towards the door. “Go get medical help! I’ll see if I Can get a forcefield up and the others out… GO!” She half shoved the young NE towards the door and made her way to the Captain and his guards. “Captain!” Her voice was sure but deep. She didn’t want to raise it too high, fearing to catch the combatants’ attention. “Chief Engineer To’kar. We can meet formally later. But I think we need to get out of here. Perhaps a rotating field around the bay can keep them contained.” She nodded to the two… beings… now fighting in the open room. It was her gut reaction since all the facts were yet to be at her disposal.

Memories of the USS Typhoon came flooding into Johnson’s head. The situation was too similar, and he was not going to lose any crew members this time. Not this time…

Maybe an officer who knew the Captain could have talked him down. Maybe going in was the right call. But To’kar didn’t know Johnson at all yet, and she wouldn’t be able to talk him out of it.

“Very good, Lieutenant,” Johnson said in reply. “Get everyone else out of here, and keep the rest of the ship safe. But I am not going to abandon any crew members to these… things.”

Alyss nodded and moved off to contact sickbay. When she was out of harms way she tapped her badge but found it not working, so tapped the nearest wall station. =^= Engineer Alyss to sickbay. We have one man down and at least one more injured in the main shuttle bay. One uh .. electrical/plasma injuries perhaps, and blunt force on two. =^=

She watched the lightning dance over and around them. Her own body twisting to avoid an offshoot that hit the wall behind her. “I’m thinking the sooner the better.” Her idea was, if they were energy beings, that the oscillating containment shield ‘might’ contain them long enough to make them realize they weren’t in ‘complete’ control anymore.

Johnson looked at his prosthetic hand for a moment. So far, he hadn’t noticed anything usual. It didn’t seem affected by energy outbursts. Could he use that somehow?

And where was Hyde?

Hyde was there. He was, in the light, looking pale and was supporting himself against a pallet of material. His other hand was covering his abdomen, swaying. Evidently the hit that he took was harsher than it had initially looked. He heard the call for everyone to get out, gathered his strength and took a step. And then collapsed to the deck. Still conscious, however, the temporal investigator tried to painfully crawl with one arm along the deck. After some moments he gave up and rolled to his back. “They cannot be allowed to leave,” he gasped out. “The timeline. That period is critical in history.”

Johnson leaped towards one of the large consoles in the shuttle bay, crouching behind it and using it as cover from the energy outbursts from the Drachin [OOC: Drachins? Drachii? :P ]. He would have to move quickly if the console was hit, but for now he had some cover - he hoped. Phaser in hand, he took a quick look around the console to see if there was enough light to make out what was going on.

-Captain Johnson, CO

The creatures in the darkness were mostly invisible. Indications of their presence were from sparks and energy discharges that came from them. While it didn’t present the finest exact target, Johnson would get a pretty good idea of where they were at. Accompanying their battle, they emitted bellows. If it were a language it was unknown, but the two were intent on their battle. One discharge highlighted a shuttle, framing it in a dazzling light show for several seconds before finding an exit point in the deck somewhere underneath. The ship shuddered. Whatever the discharges were doing it was not helping the ship.

The words were familiar to Ang. ‘Get everyone else out’. Many superiors had given that order. And like before, she obeyed… Just as she always did…

Hyde painfully rolled back to his stomach and began to crawl again. This time it was toward where the ‘time tunnel’ was that the Drachin had created.

Ang helped get the wounded into the hall. Coming back in and palming the door shut, once more dancing away from an energy line, she tapped her comm badge only to find it out just as the others had. She tapped the wall console and hollered above the fight behind her. =^=Emergency Level 3 containment field around this bay! Oscillating frequency, no redundancy pattern! Controls here as well in case I need it!=^=

Ang nearly collided with Alyss who was on her way back into the bay. She moved to spin around her to get back in, not recognizing her as the CE but another officer. “Good thinking. I’m going to get another crack at them.” She had a phaser in hand and a spanner in the other. “I’ve contacted Sickbay for help,” she added.

A voice cracked over the intercom in acknowledgment. Ang then judged the fighting and a moment later was heading for a spot beside the CO behind the console.

Ang growled under her breath. The field was up now, no chance of shoving the woman back thru it. “Get behind something,” she shouted to the woman. Realizing she didn’t know who she was, Ang laughed and bellowed between lightning cracks, “By the way, I am the new chief engineer. We will have to do lunch sometime.” She had no idea what department Alyss worked for, but had the feeling it wasn’t security from the way she had been over the tool box earlier.

“Alyss,” she said. “Helluva way to start, eh chief?” Her faint Asian features cracked a sideways sly smile but then turned more serious and looked on helplessly. Her fist cracked against the field, sending a shimmer of energy around it. “Why are we here and not there?” She asked. Alyss had been outside contacting sickbay when the Captain had ordered everyone out.

It was then she noticed the man, prone and crawling, towards the temporal rift. She shuttered as the grounding mechanisms on the shuttle kicked in and drew the vast amount of static back into the hull of the ship. She made a mental note to add the grounding points in here to her first inspection… if it ever happened. She turned to the man beside her and nodded back over her shoulder. “Who is that? And do I need to get him thru the rip, or pull him back here?” She had come in in the middle of something and was at a loss to who was on whose side. Besides the entities fighting above and around them, she had no scorecard to work by.

Lt Ang To’Kar

“His name is Hyde. He’s a temporal agent. Came through a tunnel that the creatures had made that connected to 19th century England. They,” her finger stabbed toward the battling Drachin, “are looking to go back through there and devour souls. I think he is trying to stop that but I’m not sure how. He took a pretty hard hit from one of them. He came from the other side by mistake.” That was the reader’s digest version of events. As the shuttle’s discharge settled she muttered, “That’s gonna leave a mark.”

Alyss, Eng

From behind them came the voice of the CMO. “I am here to respond to your medical emergency,” She said, looking around. She knelt down beside one of the inured crewmen and began scanning him with her medical tricorder. “Somebody tell me what happened, and make it quick.”

-Lt. Marlene Judas, CMO

“Bad aliens spouting out lightning bolts as they fight each other?” Alyss said.

The security crewman showed signs of burns as though he had taken a lightning hit. The force threw him up against a bulkhead as well and he had a fractured upper left arm and bruised ribs and hip, also on the left side.

Unfortunately any more who were injured were on the other side of the force field.

That, with the modulating frequencies did look to be helping in keeping the energy in. From the darkness inside there were flashes as energy spun off from the creatures. “That bay is going to be a mess,” Alyss said to the new Chief.

Alyss, Eng

((OOC… going with CMP just outside the field (since it went up before they arrived) and Alyss speaking thru the barrier to explain about her fellow crewman outside on the ground (field erected a meter or so inside the bay walls, so someone (CMP) could get in to get those near the door/walls, but not in the center)… inside the shield (near as I can tell) is Alyss, Ang, the CO, our time traveler and the two Drach’s… Lemme know if that’s wrong. But it’s how it looks… Meli))

OOC: I’ll go with that.

“Very well,” Marlene said sternly, kneeling to begin treating the security crewman. She of course, was trapped on the outside of the security field, so there was not much more she could do.

-Lt. Marlene Judas, CMO

The crewman had what looked to be electrical burns on him .. the left shoulder and the right lower leg for entry/exit marks. Otherwise he had the fractured upper left arm and bruised ribs and hip, also on the left side. Whatever had hit him had thrown him and spun him in the air to strike the bulkhead.

Ang nodded to Alyss. “A pleasure… I’m sure it’ll be better later.” She nodded to the Captain then and smiled. “And I’m sure my official check in wasn’t supposed to be this.” Glancing once more at Alyss, she nodded to the CO. “Watch him… your responsibility right now.”

Alyss looked into the semi-darkness. “I’ll make sure he’s okay.”

Without another word, she tried to judge the timing between the lightning cracks, erratic as they were, and lunged towards the time traveler. Whatever, or whoever he was, apparently he knew more than she did and was important. She would see if she could help in some way to seal the breech he was slowly crawling towards. If she made it, she would keep as prone as possible and smile. “Hell of a way to meet your future… or past… isn’t it? What needs to be done to end this?” She nudged her head towards the railing fighters over their heads.

Lt Ang
CE

The timing was sporadic as it lanced out from the two, like two Zeus’ battling and throwing lightning bolts about - though in this case they were near invisible but for an occasional field around them that outlined their presence. They were, however, not targeted at anyone so Ang could get about with the fair likelihood of it not striking anyone. That said, one came close to a NE security causing him to dive out of the way.

Hyde was not far from the location of the portal but he seemed to be nearly spent. “I don’t know exactly. They can’t be allowed to continue,” he said, pain crossing his features. “The other side. 19th Century England. If they can be trapped between. But someone on the other side needs to close it. One way trip. But they need to be delayed.”

Wookiee

Ang looked around at what had transpired. Crewmen down, some trapped, she was pretty sure at this point that at least one person was dead. It wasn’t so much a question of ‘who should it be’ but more of a thought of ‘I have no one to leave a message for’. She glanced at Hyde once she was beside him and scooted up on her hip to see if there was a way to help with the man’s injuries. “Tell me what to do…” was all she said.

Lt Ang To’kar
CE

OOC: if need be, they’ll be a replacement CE for this replacement CE lol… Meli

“Help me through the portal. But the Drachin must be distracted. If they see they will follow.” Hyde struggled up on one elbow and with his other hand reached out to grip Ang’s upper arm at the tunic. He looked totally out of place in what was an 19th century suit and hat.

Wookiee

As he grabbed her arm, she braced herself for his weight. “If I get you on your feet, can you make it from this container to that one near the tear?” She motioned to the crate second to the closest to the anomaly he wanted to go thru. “If you can do that… I’ll figure out a distraction. Deal?” Her smile was soft and full of understanding. She knew this was not just their hello, but also their good bye. She thought his garb peculiar, but knowing that fashions certainly changed over the centuries, it didn’t all together surprise her.

“If your Captain can provide a distraction .. I’m afraid I may need help through. Your security should be here soon if I’m not mistaken on your protocols. Once we find their controls you return. I wish I could guarantee .. ” Hyde left that open as he came painfully to his feet and let Ang support him. He did wonder how that ‘age’ would take to one as unique as her. That is, if they were trapped.

As the smile lit her eyes, she winked at him. “And just so you know… I like your hat.” She half laughed hoping to alleviate a bit of the tension and perhaps distract him a little from his pain. As she watched him, her mind started to turn about ways to distract the entities over their heads.

Hyde smiled. “I’m rather fond of it myself,” he replied.

As they were glancing toward the bay entrance they could see Security arriving. “There, the cavalry have arrived.”

Wookiee

OOC: Moving things ahead there with Security arriving from their office to lend a hand, er, phaser, er, big stick.

OOC: And giving things a bump ..
