The doors opened and the pink-haired Denobulan found herself face-to -face with another new person. “Oh! Hi!” She eyed him and then looked over her shoulder into her office.

Shaking her head slightly, she slipped by him and grinned very widely, her grey eyes showing a hint of mirth. “Change of plans. Come with me!” she declared as she set off down the corridor at a relaxed pace.

Joseph’s eyes widened in surprise as he reflexively took a step backwards. His mouth fell open, but all he managed to say was a quiet “Uhh..” as he looked back and forth between the Denobulan and into the office. With no introduction, he wasn’t even sure this was actually the counselor - though it seemed unlikely the Endeavour would have a random pink haired Denobulan roaming the halls.

By the time the cadet had pulled himself together, Liadra had already made it quite a ways down the hall. He took a few quick steps to catch up before introducing himself. “Cadet Lovell reporting, ma’am. I transferred yesterday from the Academy on Earth.. Is now a good time? I can come back.” he offered.

“It’s a perfect time, actually!” she said with a grin, moving still at a moderate pace. “And it’s nice to meet you Cadet, I’m Liadra.” She moved a bit farther to a turbolift and signalled for it. She gazed at him while they waited. “What do you think of the ship so far?” she asked.

OOC: The Discovery spec doesn’t explicitly say where the counselling office is on the ship so I always assumed it was the same deck as Sickbay (Deck 4).

“It seems okay so far. I’m still trying to settle in, I suppose.” Joseph answered, stepping to one side of the corridor to allow another cadet to pass by the two. “Being on a ship is so different from planet-side. Every time I look out a window I’m surprised at what I see, as if I somehow expect it to be green grass and blue skies instead.” the engineer finished, just as the turbolift arrived.

Liadra smiled. “The novelty will wear off… eventually. It might take awhile, but I would suggest for now that you enjoy it,” she said sincerely as she stepped in.

He looked the turbolift up and down, swallowing quietly as he stepped into it. The cadet’s motion sickness was bad enough aboard the ship itself, let alone being inside of an even smaller moving capsule inside the moving ship. He thought back to Cadet Buckingham in Medical and wondered when the “sea legs” he spoke of would appear.

The Denobulan eyed him intently for a moment, seeming to ponder over something before calling out, “Deck 2.”

With the help of inertial dampeners the ride was of course smooth, but it still went fast. It also helped that there were only two decks to travel and the trip was rather short. Liadra said nothing during the thirty seconds it took and simply gave him a smile as the door opened.

“Follow me,” she said. “I would imagine you might be familiar with the specs of the ship, so you’ll know what’s on each deck. Well, maybe just the big stuff at this point. I was going to go do something specific when you showed up and now you’ve given me another idea,” Liadra said a bit excitedly.

Moving through the corridor, they eventually found themselves in Astrometrics. Stepping inside the cavernous space, there was only one other person working, a petite junior grade woman in sciences blue. “Hello, Lieutenant Simmons. Would you mind terribly if we have this place to ourselves for a little bit?”

“Not at all! I was just about done anyway. It’s all yours,” Simmons said with a smile, before leaving them alone.

Lidra’s grey eyes look on a delighted gleam. “Okay, Joseph, your pick! Anyway or anything, within reason of course. What would you like to see?” she said, gesturing to the screen that currently had a starfield showing of their current forward facing position.

Joseph displayed a mix of emotions as they entered Astrometrics. Like any good Star Fleet office-in-training, he had a love for stars and space; though, not as much as a Science cadet would. He knew thaw that the Endeavour had an Astrometrics room, but he was still impressed to see it in person.

“This is very impressive.” he said, eyeing the dense and colorful starfield. “It kind of reminds me of the demonstrations at the Academy, but much more.. real.” he finished as he stepped up to the control panel. The cadet didn’t always enjoy the long Academy presentations, but hoped whatever the counselor had in mind would be more entertaining. Joseph thought for a moment, mindlessly paging through the list of through the lists of options before an entry caught his eye.

“Here, Starbase 172.” he said, punching it into the projector. “A friend from the Academy was stationed there. Rumor is that the planet it orbits has an ocean that is continuously as hot as a sauna..”
