“Alright then,” she said with a warm smile before taking one of the arm chairs. Liadra took a moment to sip her hot tea and let it warm her body.

“So, tell me something about yourself that wouldn’t be in your file,” the counsellor said with almost a mischievous glint in her eyes.

AJ was taken aback by the strange question but as he took a deep breath and looked at the counsellor he tried to answer the best he could, “Well I am certain my file would not mention that I was torn between engineering and security, but I opted for engineering for the fact that I like the thought of keeping the ship well ship shape”.

After Saying ship shape AJ began shaking his head at his own poor wording.

She grinned and gave a slight chuckle. “A worthy reason. Was it an easy decision or a difficult one? And what made you say no to security?” A ‘point’ for one side didn’t mean a negative for the other, so it was always interesting to have someone explain the thought process they went though to make such a big decision that would dictate their career for at least the next several years.

AJ looked up “I said no to security because I really do like the idea of the strain that comes with engineering, So if it’s something as simple as realigning the deflector or recalibration of sensor, or if it be we are in a big battle and I am being asked to try avoid a warp core breach, it’s very hands on and demanding and I like that thought”.

AJ just realised that was quite a bold statement about being in a big battle as the only battles he has been in was on holodecks.
