Tom listened intently as Cadet Lovell explained his predicament. “Well” He started “Believe it or not, ‘Space Sickness’ is quite a common occurrence, usually caused by the way a ship is operating. So it could be quite possible that this is what you are suffering from.” Tom’s tone of voice changed to one of re-assurance “However, it’s nothing to worry about. Like you said, it is your first day aboard, so it may well just be nerves, or not having found you ‘sea legs’ so to speak. So to avoid being hasty, I suggest that we give it couple of days, let you get settled in. Then if it still persists, come and see me and I’ll give you something for it. But if it becomes too much to bare in the meantime, come down here straight away and we’ll get you sorted, ” Tom smiled “Does that sound okay?”

Joseph nodded as he slid off of the biobed. The need to ‘gain your sea legs’ wasn’t something they taught at the Academy. “Yeah, I suppose so. Sounds like a plan.” he said before reaching out his hand for a hand shake.

“Thanks for your help doctor. I’ll see you around soon?”

Cadet Joseph Lovell, Engineering

Buckingham shook Joseph’s hand and smiled. “No Problem! Welcome aboard Joseph. And don’t forget, if your sickness persists come back and see me.” Tom said. “See you around!”

Marlene walked over towards the two cadets, with what could only be described as a slight smile on her face. She gave Joseph a nod, and made eye contact with Thomas.

“Everything ok?” She asked.

“Yes, Thank you” Buckingham said. “I’ve just this second completed Cadet Lovell’s Physical.” he explained.

“Very well,” Marlene said. “Make sure you enter all his information into our medical files.” She started to walk away. “And send a copy of your examination report to the terminal in my office so I can look it over.”

“Yes Doctor, right away.” Tom said in acknowledgement. He moved over to a Computer and began to input data into the various required files.
