Kyle was impressed, he seemed to have an already seasoned veteran of Starfleet on his hands. After a couple of mouthfuls of a carbonara that tasted nothing like the one his grandmother would cook him on family visits, he said, “Previous assignment? Blimey mate, are you sure you’re not an undercover Captain?”

Matthew smiled around a mouthful of soup, shaking his head. “Science cadets have the option of doing three cruises,” he explained after swallowing. “For a better variety of exploratory experiences. Or so I’ve been told.”

(OOC: AKA, I made it up in a previous post hahaha)

• Cadet Riley, Science

Kyle used a napkin to wipe his hands clean and took a sip of the root beer he’d ordered with the carbonara and relaxed into his seat, “Any ships I’d know?” Anders asked.

Riley shrugged and leaned his arms on the table. “The first was the Endeavour, another Discovery-class like this one. The second was the Titania-class Oberon.” He slurped another spoonful, remembering why he didn’t like eating soups in public.

“All scientific vessels,” he continued, “which is great for a science track cadet.”

He stirred the remaining soup, pulling some beans and sausage from the bottom. “What drew you to security?” he asked before taking another spoonful.
