Rainns got up from the couch, stretched his body for a few moments and shrugged. “I have no idea.” he said. “I haven’t had a day to spend with a woman in almost two years now.” Memories of his previous and only other relationship came into his mind. But, he noticed, unlike every other time this had happened before, those memories were not accompanied by a sense of loss and pain, but rather a new sensation, indifference. “I’ll be happy as long as I get to spend it with you imzadi.”

Sharah could hear his memories but she didn’t listen. She figured eventually they would talk about them, but not right now. She brushed out her skirt and then walked over to pick up her brush. In the mirror her hair was a mass of offensive curls. She groaned and began to try and bush them into obedience. It felt like an oddly intimate thing to do with Joseph there. Rather than be embarrassed by it she tried to just accept it. “I should warn you, this Medusa’s mop of mine is usually much worse. It might turn you into stone if you look at it.” Sharah turned around so he could see that she was joking. She sat back down on the couch.
Cadet Fayth, DoctorRainns smiled, “I certainly don’t mind turning to stone if it allows me to look at you.” Joseph still could not believe he was given the opportunity to court somebody as beautiful as Sharah. He saw that she had taken a seat on the couch and quickly moved to join her.

She gave Joseph a rather skeptical look, “No, no turning to stone, I want you just the way you are.” She moved next to him holding his hand. “You…” her comm screen started flashing. “Oh no.........” She got up and walked over to her desk to sit down. “I forgot to reply to Andrew’s message last night.” She buried her face in her hands and then answered it. “Hello Andrew.”
Andrew looked at her and raised a brow, “Really Sharah, what, did you just wake up?”
“As a matter of fact, I did. I told you I’ve been working double shifts and not sleeping well. Today is my day off. I slept in.” She glances at Joseph, ‘Really I love my brother but he has horrible timing.’
Andrew looked immediately contrite, “I’m sorry. What about last night, are you okay?” Sharah, of course was thinking about last night and started to turn really red. “Sharah, why are you....OMG. I’ve gotta go, bye Sharah.”
“Andrew don’t you dare. I mean it.” but the comm line went blank. Sharah crossed her arms and put her head on her desk for a moment. ‘By the four gods of Betazed....” She sat up with a deep breath and walked back to the couch. “Don’t answer your comm today.” Then the absurdity of it caught up with her and started laughing.
She glanced at him, “You know we can stay here all day if you want, but if we go anywhere you might not want to wear pajamas all day.” Though she did like the way he looked.
Cadet Fayth, DoctorThe comfort Joseph had fallen into the past ten hours was shattered by the Comm screen’s incoming transmission. He suddenly felt panicked, out of place, and not appropriate. This was another aspect of his social behavior that Joseph knew he needed to improve sometime soon. His fear of his significant other’s relatives. His heartbeat skyrocketed and his hands grew sweaty. He was thankful that the couch was not in view of the comm screen, since he appeared in the moment to be a deer in the headlights. He breathed a major sigh of relief after Andrew ended the transmission. He sat there for a few moments just staring up at the ceiling. It was pathetic, truly pathetic. He had no problem getting fire fights against hostile aliens, or risking his life to save injured comrades. But the sudden encounter with someone he was not prepared to talk to scared him to the core. He did not immediately respond to Sharah, his mind wondering off, clarity eventually gifted him again. “Oh, I have no preference really, I’m not quite sure what we would do around here, unless you want to see if the holodecks are available.” He said, looking at Sharah, his nerves calming.

Sharah felt bad for laughing because it wasn’t funny but her nerves had been set off. ‘If it makes you feel better, Imzadi, I wouldn’t handle meeting your family in any better condition. And I really don’t think Andrew is going to tell anyone. I have too many of his secrets. We could try the holodeck if you want. I’ll let you pick, my project dominated our time yesterday.’ Sharah realized she was still happily ensconced in the calmness of his mind and that her own anxiety was probably affecting him. She gently pulled back and was rocked by the sudden saves that hit her. She hadn’t realized how much he had managed to block for her.
