=^=This is Fayth. I was hoping, Lt., you could answer some questions about the standard equipment carried by security personnel during away missions and its capabilities. If you have time, I would greatly appreciate the insight.=^=

=^= Standy Doctor=^= A few minutes passed before Rainns stepped into the lab. “How can I assist the best doctor in starfleet?” he asked with a smirk.

Sharah felt the flush spread up her face and was glad she was in the lab alone. Softly the thought came to him, ‘Hello, Imzadi.’ She took a deep breath. She was on duty, and she was going to act like it. She was, she really really was, she hoped. “I was hoping the most ambitious COS in Starfleet could tell me if something is possible.” She walked over and picked up a PaDD. “Do you mind if I record this in case I need to come back to it later?” She waited for his response and was ready hand type her notes if needed. “So the idea for this project is to allow away team members to access medicine in an emergency. I can make them no problem in the lab,” she pointed over to several items on a table. “I ran the scenario on the holodeck, but I quickly discovered that I had no idea how to get heat or a bowl of some type. I know security personnel carry a phaser and a scientific tricorder, but I have no idea if it can do what I want it to do.” She blushed again, this time from embarrassment because she didn’t want him to think she was asking for another phaser.

‘Hello my love.’ Rainns responded to Fayth as he walked over to her. “Of course, feel free to do so.” He replied. After listening to her idea he nodded his head, “So you need somebody who can work a phaser to carry out some experiments for you?”

She was NOT going to start blushing again. Well not a lot anyway.... What was with her? She’d seen him last night at dinner why did she feel like she just came up for air, just because he walked in the room? GAH! She needed to get it together. “In a nutshell, yes.” Sharah nodded and started her PaDD recording. She picked up a second PaDD and handed it to him. It contained a how-to document for making the medicines. “Who ever is using this would need some type of container to hold mixture. Though I’m sure a tricorder or phaser could be ripped apart for that, that would not be prudent. I made one out of clay but clay has to harden, and without heat it can take days. That doesn’t do the patient any good. I know phasers can be used to heat rock, but could it heat the clay without destroying it? And then the mixture has to be heated, so they need fire, but it’s not in my skill set to start a fire with two rocks,” she shrugged camping had never been on their activity list when she was a kid. “And fire isn’t always prudent. If they are trapped inside a cave the smoke could cause more problems, and of course there may not be anything to burn in a cave. And what if there is no clay? Some rock can be shaped, but again how long would that take? I can do it with a laser scalpel, but there isn’t one of those even in a medkit, so now the list is moot if I can’t figure out practical solutions to help them make it. I’m sure most of the officers are very capable and can think on their feet, but in this type of situation sometimes people don’t think coherently.” She she stopped talking to take a breath because she’d been speaking rapidly, again, her enthusiasm and frustration taking over.

Rainns could sense Fayth’s internal emotions and her attempts to not outwardly reveal them. It made it even more difficult for himself to suppress his own emotional responses to being around her. “Phasers have a very wide range of settings, I’m fairly confident that they could be able to do most of what you are talking about, and if not immediately, they would only need minor adjusting.” He responded, sensing his significant other’s frustration. “As long as the phaser is in working condition, you should be alright.”
