Sharah sat up just a bit and looked at him attempting not to laugh, ‘You would think so. You’d probably do a good job of it too.’ She glanced around, saw her PaDD on the floor and picked it up. ‘Ugh…I am on duty tonight. I’ve got about an hour before I have to go.’
Cadet Fayth, Doctor‘Is there anything in particular you want to do?’ Rainns asked, looking at her as she picked up her padd.

‘Hmmmm…in an hour?’ Sharah thought for a moment. There were a couple of holoprograms she had wanted to check out, but she remembered he said they made him sad. And an hour wouldn’t be long enough to experience them. ‘What about a game? If I promise not to cheat?’
Cadet Fayth, Doctor‘Holoprograms won’t make me sad anymore.’ Rainns said, in response Sharah’s thoughts on holodeck programs. ‘What game could we play?’ he asked quizzically.

‘Then maybe we can go sometime. Cards? Poker? My brother taught me the rules, but I only ever played with him and my dad. I’m probably not any good, since I will be doing my best to not cheat,’ Sharah laughed. ‘I’ve got a deck. I play solitaire a lot.’
Cadet Fayth, DoctorRainns smiled. ‘If you want to play solitaire and chat I’m all for that.’ He wished they had more time, but alas, as he knew, all good things must come to an end. Rainns looked out at the pulsar once more, which seemed more distant now than it had a few short moments ago. Just as the ship was passing it, so was his life passing by a wonderful moment. “I love you Sharah.” Joseph said out loud, looking back at her. It was a random time to say it, but, he needed to, life was to quick and brief to pass on moments like this.

Sharah was already standing, with the thought of getting her deck of cards. His voice softly echoing in the silence stopped her movement. She sat back down on the couch next to him. “Joseph,” she took his hand in hers and looked into his eyes. Of course she loved him, and she knew how he felt, though she hadn’t really thought about it rather than just feeling it and accepting it. Their combined feelings washing over her, “I love you, completely, Imzadi.” She squeezed his hand, stood up and tugged, ‘but we are about to have company. Really no one ever comes down here, but now. Why?’ She was obviously exasperated. She led him down around the end of the corridor and to her quarters. After the door shut she turned into his arms, “I really love you.”
Cadet Fayth, DoctorThe blissful state of happiness had overcome Rainns once again as Fayth reciprocated his sentiments. Her sudden movement up startled him, and he was unresisting as she led him down the corridor out of the lounge. He let her pull him into her room and after the door closed he simply held her tightly. “Imzadi,” he repeated out loud.

Sharah allowed her feelings to swell and slide from her to Joseph. She was content and blissful. Hearing him call her Imzadi sent a shiver down her spine that made her smile. She tilted her head back to look at him, “I always will be, your Imzadi, and you will always be mine.” It amazed her that they wouldn’t be here if he hadn’t ‘told’ her ‘don’t be afraid.’ She also knew she would never need to be with him.
Cadet Fayth, DoctorSharah’s thoughts about the night they met caused Joseph to think back as well. He smiled at the memory of choking on his water after hearing respond to him and the awkward conversation they had proceeding that moment. Even though that event had taken place weeks ago, it felt like it happened in another decade. With the memories in his mind, he met Sharah’s gaze, leaned his head over and kissed her gently on the lips. After a few seconds he pulled back. “I better get going Imzadi,” he said in a hushed tone, “The ship’s doctor on duty can’t be too lovestruck on the job.” As he said this, the smallest of smirks formed on his face.

Sharah gently returned the kiss. Why did she have to have an extra shift tonight? “I know, I’ve got to get ready, anyway. I don’t think I’ll need that coffee now.” She laughed, “I promise, no one will notice, though I can’t promise that isn’t how I’ll appear up here,” she tapped her head. “Good thing only you will know.” She hugged him one more time. “I’ll either be working or sleeping till late tomorrow.”
Cadet Fayth, DoctorRainns held onto her tightly as she hugged him. “Well doc, I best be on my way.” He said after a few moments. He slowly released her and took a few steps back. “Love you Imzadi.” He said with a smile. With that he turned and made his way out of her quarters.

Sharah watched as he left, her thoughts following him, ‘I love you too. Sleep well, Imzadi.’ Sharah grabbed a clean uniform and headed for a sonic shower. Afterwards she had a glass of ice cold water, and took a moment to clear her head and focus. She let herself surf above the waves around the ship. Most people were asleep or close to it. The rythm was different than during the day. She left her quarters and headed to sickbay.
