Sharah sat up just a bit and looked at him attempting not to laugh, ‘You would think so. You’d probably do a good job of it too.’ She glanced around, saw her PaDD on the floor and picked it up. ‘Ugh…I am on duty tonight. I’ve got about an hour before I have to go.’

‘Is there anything in particular you want to do?’ Rainns asked, looking at her as she picked up her padd.

‘Hmmmm…in an hour?’ Sharah thought for a moment. There were a couple of holoprograms she had wanted to check out, but she remembered he said they made him sad. And an hour wouldn’t be long enough to experience them. ‘What about a game? If I promise not to cheat?’

‘Holoprograms won’t make me sad anymore.’ Rainns said, in response Sharah’s thoughts on holodeck programs. ‘What game could we play?’ he asked quizzically.

‘Then maybe we can go sometime. Cards? Poker? My brother taught me the rules, but I only ever played with him and my dad. I’m probably not any good, since I will be doing my best to not cheat,’ Sharah laughed. ‘I’ve got a deck. I play solitaire a lot.’

Rainns smiled. ‘If you want to play solitaire and chat I’m all for that.’ He wished they had more time, but alas, as he knew, all good things must come to an end. Rainns looked out at the pulsar once more, which seemed more distant now than it had a few short moments ago. Just as the ship was passing it, so was his life passing by a wonderful moment. “I love you Sharah.” Joseph said out loud, looking back at her. It was a random time to say it, but, he needed to, life was to quick and brief to pass on moments like this.

Sharah was already standing, with the thought of getting her deck of cards. His voice softly echoing in the silence stopped her movement. She sat back down on the couch next to him. “Joseph,” she took his hand in hers and looked into his eyes. Of course she loved him, and she knew how he felt, though she hadn’t really thought about it rather than just feeling it and accepting it. Their combined feelings washing over her, “I love you, completely, Imzadi.” She squeezed his hand, stood up and tugged, ‘but we are about to have company. Really no one ever comes down here, but now. Why?’ She was obviously exasperated. She led him down around the end of the corridor and to her quarters. After the door shut she turned into his arms, “I really love you.”

The blissful state of happiness had overcome Rainns once again as Fayth reciprocated his sentiments. Her sudden movement up startled him, and he was unresisting as she led him down the corridor out of the lounge. He let her pull him into her room and after the door closed he simply held her tightly. “Imzadi,” he repeated out loud.
