‘You would like Betazed. We are a culture of hopeless philosophers. Many people spend days staring at paintings contemplating the meaning of life or reading tomb after tomb of philosophy. I tend to agree, every choice I have made has brought me here to this moment and depending on my choices will determine where I end up next.’ She pulled her legs onto the couch curling up slightly. She laid her head back on the couch as well and slightly against Joseph’s shoulder. ‘I neither allow nor disallow your happiness, though if I am cause to your current happiness I am honored. My wish is that I will always make you feel this happy.’ Sharah stared out at the view allowing her thoughts to slide against his, feeling a deep harmony and connectedness.
Cadet Fayth, Doctor‘I’ve never been, its on my bucket list.’ Joseph responded. He took his hand away from Sharah’s and moved his arm around her to pull her in closer to him. He closed his eyes and smiled. ‘I wish for that too Sharah.’ The pulsar was quite incredible and Rainns could not help but to be astonished by it. Of the reasons he joined Starfleet, seeing phenomena like this was near the top of the list.

‘I would like to take you there, show you where I grew up.’ Sharah allowed herself to be pulled closer, feeling the warmth of his arm seep down her back, especially her shoulder that she hurt during parkour class. She moved it slightly to ease the stiffness, and laid her head against his shoulder. ‘I am very happy, and you are the reason.’ She sighed contentedly. ‘I like the idea of marking things of our list…lists together.’ Her voice sounded a little drowsy and content. She had a secondary shift starting in a couple hours and she was going to take whatever time she had to relax and spend time with Joseph.
Cadet Fayth, Doctor‘We’ll have to do that sometime, make a tangible list’ Rainns thought. He looked over at Fayth. ‘You seem rather tired, you should probably go back to your quarters, this doesn’t seem to be the best place for a nap.’
Lt. JG Joseph Rainns- COS
‘Hmmm probably not, but I am very comfortable right here, with you. Besides I don’t really have time for a nap. I start another shift soon. If I go to sleep I’ll miss it. I’ve been trying to make up some of my missed shifts, or is it tomorrow I have the extra shift? I can’t remember at the moment, and I seem to have misplaced my PaDD.’ Sharah shrugged, stifling a yawn.
Cadet Fayth, Doctor‘Well then Doc, get yourself a cup of coffee before you head back to work.’ Rainns chuckled, ‘because I don’t think you’ll make it through the shift without it.’ He stared out at the pulsar. ‘By the way,’ he thought again, ‘hows that fitness course going?’
LT JG Joseph Rainns- COS
‘You’re probably right,’ she admitted. ‘Oh, well.....let’s just say I’m glad no one was watching. Seriously though Ash…Trenton is a great teacher. She’s able to change her approach to teaching a technique on the fly, which is good because I am horrible. It was fun though, I’ve never done anything like that before. And despite falling frequently I managed to only really hurt myself once.’ She shrugged her should slowly to stretch it again.
Cadet Fayth, Doctor‘Ah yes, Cadet Trenton, interesting young woman to lead.’ Rainns responded. He looked at Sharah. ‘I assume you were able to treat yourself since you are a doctor.’
LT JG Joseph Rainns- COS
Sharah wasn’t sure what to say to that. She knew that Joseph had reservations about Trenton and she wasn’t at liberty to say anything to him or her, what a conundrum. ‘Is she? She always speaks with a lot of passion about her position on Challenger.’ Sharah turned her head and looked out the window, not quite looking at him, ‘that would be unethical to treat myself, unless in an emergency.’ She’d meant to have someone look at it, but she’d got caught up in her research and lab work and forgot.
Cadet Fayth, DoctorRainns felt the conflicting feelings from Fayth about Trenton, and decided not to force the issue. ‘Why is it unethical for you to treat yourself?’ He asked curiously.

‘It would be very easy for a doctor to give themselves a higher dose of medication, simply because they know how much leeway is allowed. That can cause severe medical problems or addiction. Like with my alpha wave inducer. It’s complicated and in depth to configure it. If it’s set wrong it can have mild to severe side effects. If I’m tired and set it wrong for myself,’ Sharah shrugged, ‘I could not wake up for a long time. It’s important that someone else is aware that I’m using it and can monitor me if necessary. I guess it would be similar to a security officer investigating themselves.’ Sharah opened her eyes to look out at the pulsar again, ‘It’s stunning.’ She reached over to grab his other hand.
Cadet Fayth, Doctor
‘ I understand, that makes quite a lot of sense.’ Rainns responded. ‘I would make an excellent investigator of myself though anyone’ he thought with a smirk. As Sharah reached for his other hand he allowed her to take it. ‘Yes, it is stunning.’ He agreed.
