Sharah took the PaDD. “I’d love to watch.” She headed over and took a seat. She sent a copy of the user manual to herself and put the PaDD down near Ashlyn’s bag. She also took out the tricorder to get a good look at her shoulder. A little bruising but she was fine. No major damage. The idea of diving made her mouth go dry. She was sure she could draw the novice level out for awhile before she was confident enough to move on. She sat back and waited for Ashyln to start her run.

Ashlyn stood still for a long moment, putting herself into a sort of trance with her head hung low and her body relaxed. As her head came up and her eyes opened, she bolted toward a building that looked to resemble an apartment complex with exterior staircases. Using the exterior of the staircases, she began her climb toward the roof of the building, jumping from the staircase toward window ledges on the neighboring building. Upper body strength played a role as she hauled herself further up and began a run that led from one high rooftop to another. Diving through HVAC piping, landing in a roll, springing back up, and continuing into a long jump to the next building, Trenton’s confidence in her footing was astounding. The next obstacle was a building under construction with scaffolding on the side that proved to be no different from a jungle gym from their youth. The large piping providing an excellent surface to cling to, jump off of, and climb. Most of the course continued with that level of excitement until it came to the dismount from a light post. Ashlyn underestimated a jump and missed the post, while she did slow her fall by grabbing the decorative flag, it did nothing to lessen the horrible impact noise when she hit the ground and the signal alerted the end of the course. A long string of obscenities flowed forth as Trenton laid on her back and held onto her dislocated shoulder.

Sharah had been watching the run with absolute fascination, until Ashlyn missed the pole. Sharah grabbed her medkit, that she had only brought as a joke, and ran, she was a few feet away when Ashlyn hit the ground. “Don’t move too much.” Sharah kneeled down on the ground next to her taking in the shoulder and looking over her to see if anything else seemed out of place. She flipped open her tricorder, probe already out scanning. The shoulder was completely dislocated. Sharah grabbed a hypospray and filled it with Terakine for the pain and gave it to Ashlyn. “That should help with the pain, but I have to set the shoulder. It’s going to hurt.” She had Ashlyn sit up. Sharah sat down behind Ashlyn, and just off to her side. She placed her forearm lengthwise down Ashlyns shoulder and upper arm. She used her other hand to extend the arm and with a quick torque and push with both arms she reset the shoulder with a loud pop. She had Ashlyn lean back against one of the obstacles while she scanned the shoulder again with the tricorder to make sure it was back in place. She pulled out the dermal regenerator and used it to heal the damaged rotary cuff tissue and the bruising that was starting to form. She also scanned for any signs of concussion. “Other than your shoulder, how does the rest of you feel? Any tunnel vision, dizziness, desire to vomit?”

Ashlyn chuckled a bit, “I’m alright, just going to be tender for shift tomorrow. I remember when I had to take care of these kinds of injuries on my own, gods those sucked. So much better to have medical on standby.” Another round of laughter passes, “You still up for that lunch? I could really use that supplement bar right now.” The voices in Trenton’s head were noisy about drugs, a few were trying to calm the others but the majority were very strongly opinionated about someone else drugging them without consent. The box rumbles and threatens to release memories from Ashlyn’s past that would likely have a poor reaction.

Sharah nodded, she could feel Ashlyn’s tension. In the name of good medicine, “So your treatment, was a dose of Terakine. It’s an anti-inflammatory meant to relax the tendons so I could set the shoulder without causing more harm. The shoulder joint has some sharp edges to it and setting it without that could cause ripping. I set the shoulder and then used the dermal regenerator to make sure everything started healing properly. The Terakine doesn’t spread through the system and should be wearing off by now. It was a super low dose. If you have any problems, tell me okay? And I’ll look at that shoulder again.” Sharah repacked the medkit as she talked. “Lunch sounds great. Let’s get going.”
