Trenton took a moment to drink some water herself, spilling a little into her hair to let it run down her back generating a small shiver from the cool liquid. “Okay, at this point you have the basics. Now it’s just a matter of variation!” Ashlyn heads over to the console for the novice area and inputs several requests. The field changes and morphs to have multiple jump spots and platforms to move over, around, or under. All the platforms are low to the ground and even if one should slip, they wouldn’t have far to fall so there would be a minimal chance for harm as long as you don’t intentionally throw yourself into something you shouldn’t. “This course is fifty platforms that you can go at from several angles. The trick to this challenge, to keep you honest, is that once you get going the floor turns red. When the floor is red, you can’t use it, you have to land on a platform and make fifty consecutive jumps before it logs time for completion. You want to see me go for it first or do you want to try to find your own route to take?”

Ashlyn’s grin gets mischievously playful. “I was going to offer a dinner out on me for the first one that could complete it, but it looks like you’ll get an unfair advantage by already being at this point where everyone else is going to still be first day new.” Ashlyn turns and uses a pair of close walls to jump off them on her way up to lounge on top, looking positively like the cat that got the cream. “Unless, of course, you would enjoy such private time with me, then by all means use it as motivation.”

Sharah looked at the course, she really wasn’t sure about how many jumps she could make without her horrible coordination getting in the way. She could attempt to slowly circle into the center. “No, I’ll try to find a route on my own, maybe..” She looked again trying to see the route in her head. “Well as much as I would enjoy a meal with a friend, all of my dinners are taken with a standing dinner date. We could grab breakfast sometime before Mok’bara.” With that Sharah took off towards the course landing the first 5 or 6 jumps with no problem. She missed one when she took an extra step to the end of a platform and her foot missed, stumbling off of it, but managed to roll and then jump onto the next one as she got back up. She took the majority of the course much more slowly instead of getting ahead of herself. The last 10 obstacles in front of her she got a little too confident, missed, hit her shoulder before rolling, but managed to finish the course. The shoulder would be sore, but didn’t appear to be broken. She landed on the last platform and grinned. “I did a lot better than I thought I would.”

Ashlyn clapped for Sharah’s success, “Excellent work! how are you feeling now? Ready to try again without coming off course this time or ready to call it a day to get some rest in?” Trenton gracefully slid from the top of the wall she was lounging on and strode up to Fayth. “You know, you can always call on me for the nights he fails to show for the standing dinner arrangement? No point in letting a good evening go to waste because he’s too tired or busy.”

“I think,” Sharah paused to catch her breath, “I think I’ll stop here. I’m a bit winded.” Sharah put her hands on her knees and took a couple deep breaths. Her shoulder was throbbing still but not as bad. “I’ll remember that, never know what will happen,” though Sharah hoped he wouldn’t cancel, duty on a star ship was unpredictable. “How about lunch right now? I need to eat before I go on shift.” She stood up straight found her water bottle and downed it. “This was a lot of fun Ashlyn. I never would have tried this on my own. When is the next class? “

Ashlyn chuckled and opened her bag where she retrieved a pair of gloves and a PaDD. The PaDD she handed over to Sharah, “This is a user manual for the program, Trenton Park. The idea is to get comfortable doing up to one hundred sets in the novice section before taking the Intermediate Course. It should be about five kilometers of jumping from object to object when you are ready for the next batch of lessons. Then we’ll add diving, pipes, balance, and climbing. Really open up the chance to gain more self-confidence and potentially break something.” Trenton got the gloves ready and was headed for deeper into the city, “I’m going to run my own course in the Advanced section if you want to watch, then I’ll be happy to do lunch.”

Sharah took the PaDD. “I’d love to watch.” She headed over and took a seat. She sent a copy of the user manual to herself and put the PaDD down near Ashlyn’s bag. She also took out the tricorder to get a good look at her shoulder. A little bruising but she was fine. No major damage. The idea of diving made her mouth go dry. She was sure she could draw the novice level out for awhile before she was confident enough to move on. She sat back and waited for Ashyln to start her run.

Ashlyn stood still for a long moment, putting herself into a sort of trance with her head hung low and her body relaxed. As her head came up and her eyes opened, she bolted toward a building that looked to resemble an apartment complex with exterior staircases. Using the exterior of the staircases, she began her climb toward the roof of the building, jumping from the staircase toward window ledges on the neighboring building. Upper body strength played a role as she hauled herself further up and began a run that led from one high rooftop to another. Diving through HVAC piping, landing in a roll, springing back up, and continuing into a long jump to the next building, Trenton’s confidence in her footing was astounding. The next obstacle was a building under construction with scaffolding on the side that proved to be no different from a jungle gym from their youth. The large piping providing an excellent surface to cling to, jump off of, and climb. Most of the course continued with that level of excitement until it came to the dismount from a light post. Ashlyn underestimated a jump and missed the post, while she did slow her fall by grabbing the decorative flag, it did nothing to lessen the horrible impact noise when she hit the ground and the signal alerted the end of the course. A long string of obscenities flowed forth as Trenton laid on her back and held onto her dislocated shoulder.

Sharah had been watching the run with absolute fascination, until Ashlyn missed the pole. Sharah grabbed her medkit, that she had only brought as a joke, and ran, she was a few feet away when Ashlyn hit the ground. “Don’t move too much.” Sharah kneeled down on the ground next to her taking in the shoulder and looking over her to see if anything else seemed out of place. She flipped open her tricorder, probe already out scanning. The shoulder was completely dislocated. Sharah grabbed a hypospray and filled it with Terakine for the pain and gave it to Ashlyn. “That should help with the pain, but I have to set the shoulder. It’s going to hurt.” She had Ashlyn sit up. Sharah sat down behind Ashlyn, and just off to her side. She placed her forearm lengthwise down Ashlyns shoulder and upper arm. She used her other hand to extend the arm and with a quick torque and push with both arms she reset the shoulder with a loud pop. She had Ashlyn lean back against one of the obstacles while she scanned the shoulder again with the tricorder to make sure it was back in place. She pulled out the dermal regenerator and used it to heal the damaged rotary cuff tissue and the bruising that was starting to form. She also scanned for any signs of concussion. “Other than your shoulder, how does the rest of you feel? Any tunnel vision, dizziness, desire to vomit?”
