USS Challenger

side-sim Mess Hall

Posted by Cadet Sharah Fayth (Doctor) in side-sim Mess Hall
OOC: I have NO idea if this is accurate or not, do not follow any of my directions, I made it all up based on internet searches.
IC:
Fayth had spent several days, back to back, in the Biochemistry lab. She was still reading the information she had compiled on her PaDD as she walked cluelessly down the hallway. She wasn’t sure what time it was or how long she had been working, but she was hungry and was headed to the mess hall.

She had managed to select one plant/mineral/chemical for identification for each medicine she wanted to be able to provide: antibiotic, anti-inflammatory for pain, and a sedative. There were many options, but for a start she had picked one for each. In addition to the following information she included the chemical composition for each. Hopefully this information would allow the person to find something that would help them.

Antibiotic: Earth Name: St. John’s Wort: Yellow/Orange star shaped flower. Grind and mix with warm water to make a past or grind and mix with honey to make a salve: Apply to wounds. Open wounds–apply near and round, but not in open wound.
Anti-inflammatory for pain: Earth Name: Comfrey: Small purple buds that weep (or hang down). Grind and mix with warm water to make paste. Apply to area of pain as a hot compress, do not put in open wound.
Sedative: Earth Name: Chamomile: Small flower with white petals and yellow center. Put whole flowers (or grind gently) in boiling water, drink as a tea.

She wandered down the hallway, occasionally bumping into someone, mumbling an apology under her breath and moving on. When she arrived at the mess hall she sat down at a table away from the main push of people getting food, and continued to pour over her notes.

In addition to the other information, Fayth had created step by step instructions on how to create each medication. Of course these would not be as effective as being in sickbay, but it would lower the chance of complications. She had tried to think of everything. Including mentioning making a bowl out of clay or rock. She had seen her brother use a phaser to hollow out a rock one time. She didn’t think she could do it, but someone familiar with how to program a phaser should be able to. Water was usually readily available on m-class planets. If not they should have rations. Satisfied with the first report she sent it to Lt. Mika for review/approval to continue.

She reached out to pick up her glass and got empty air. She looked up confused and realized she had made it to the mess hall, but had been so engrossed in her work she hadn’t actually ordered anything. She saw the line for the replicators and decided to wait till it thinned a bit. She put her head back and rolled the ache out of her shoulders. What time was it anyway?
Cadet Fayth, Doctor

A padd was dropped on the table in front of her, and Joseph Rainns sat down, holding a tray with a ham and cheese sandwich. “Afternoon Doctor.” He said, quickly praying and then eating.
