“Doctor Torrirs just got out of a meeting, I’m sure you could go see them in their office, now.” His words were riddled with the muskiness of crackled lungs and bad decisions, proving he was a man of many regrets although many memories. “Their Office is right over there,” He motioned towards one of the nearby door, where a plaque had the Doctor’s name engraved into its sleek exterior.

Alex turned around slowly — not exactly sure, at first, where the crackling voice had come from. She couldn’t help a small frown when she finally located the origin of the strangely comforting sound and glanced at his collar to see who it was. Judging by that voice alone, the man seemed much older than his rank would suggest. She smiled at him.

“Just make sure to ring the chime, in case they are busy with something.” Shrugging his shoulders, the nameless cadet inclined his head, making his way off towards one of the nearby patients, who required attention.

Nameless Cadet

Alex nodded and took a step towards the man, right hand outstretched in greeting — Cadets had to stick together, didn’t they? “Hi,’ she said, “and thank y…”.

She got to finish neither her greeting nor her sentence, as the man sped away towards … whoever was over there. Alex shrugged. Duty calls when it calls. She understood that.

She turned towards the hatch the Cadet had pointed to, rang the chime, and waited.
