The base chief smirked as the cadet was dressed down but said nothing, covering her grin with another long sip from the coffee mug. When they finished she nodded and said to Tija, “Well yes some proper care would be nice. Like I said, it is helpful if you could get us treated then we won’t keep you much longer. Interference and all of that, along with old equipment since someone is cheap!”

The last part was clearly directed at the Ferengi balled up in the corner being a drama queen.

Tija gave a curt nod. “We are doing our best to help all of you and I know my colleagues in the mine are working hard on finding the other miners.” Looking at Schweitzer, she continued, “Once you finished treating Ouess, start checking on the other miners here. I’ll be with you shortly.” She then turned her attention towards Reiss and without further ado started to scan them methodically from head to toe.

“Yes, Lieutenant.” Schweitzer quickly responded to the CMO. He swallowed hard, realizing his mistake. His first away mission was not going as he hoped. He moved over to Ouess and checked her knee for ligament damage before cleaning the wound and applying a fresh bandage. Afterward, he tried to remain quiet and out of the way, lest not to incur any more wrath.

Cadet Albert Schweitzer (Medical)

The various survivors in the emergency shelter were mostly suffering from bumps, bruises, and broken bones but otherwise were ok. It didn’t take Schweitzer and Tija long to make sure everyone was patched up, bones set and drugs administered.

After about 15 to 20 minutes everyone was healed up. The station commander had continued to explain to the CMO what she thought had happened. “I imagine we dug too deep too fast and the mine destabilized. It will probably take us months to dig out and reinforce the tunnels.”

Cadet Schweitzer looked around to see if there was anyone else that needed help. Finding no one, he assisted in gathering everyone so they could be evacuated from the tunnel for repairs. Once all the casualties were gathered, he awaited further orders.

Cadet Albert Schweitzer (Medical)

“I can imagine, but at least it seems that there were no casualties,” Tija replied curtly. She then tapped her combadge and said, =/\= Tija to Tavium. Do you need further assistant Lieutenant? We treated everyone in the bunker and could help you. =/\=

=/\= Understood Lieutenant. Cadet Schweitzer and I are on our way. Can you tell us where exactly you are? =/\= Tija replied while making sure she had put all her equipment back into her bag.

Once they knew where exactly they had to go, Tija tapped her combadge once more. =/\= Tija to Challenger. Captain, Cadet Schweitzer and myself treated everyone in the bunker. We are now going to head to the mine to assist Lieutenant Tavium and her team down there. =/\=

Looking at the other people in the bunker she said, “I want you to stay here. NE Hunter will stay with you and we’ll keep you updated on what is happening in the mine.” The tone of her voice and her body language probably made it very clear that she would accept no argument on this.

The remaining crew grumbled but then Oeusse spoke up. “If it is all the same to you, I think we will move back to the habitat. If there aren’t any real threats out there I think we will be more comfortable in our own beds.” With that though, as Tija left, the team started packing up and making their way back to the habitat building.
