Rainns snapped his fingers, “Yes,” he directed his beam further down the tunnel and called out, “If anyone is down here feel free to get our attention!” He quickened his pace ever so slightly, focusing on the pathway ahead, anticipating a response.Cadet Joseph Rainns- Security
Mika realized the Ensign had a point. She had forgotten completely, and judging by the way Rainns snapped his fingers, she assumed he had as well. And so, in a voice much more timid than she would have liked, she called, “Anyone injured, call out!”
~ Cadet Tandra Mika, Doctor
The Chief Engineer’s voice came over Lt. Tavium’s communicator.
=^= This is Lt. Vras. It is possible some sensors may have been tampered with that allowed for a mine explosion to take place. We are still reviewing the circumstances and the current status of the mine sensors. It is possible this may have been a deliberate act. Take all caution while in the mine. =^=
-Lt. Keval Vras, CE
John raised an eyebrow at Mika’s timid voice and gave a small chuckle. His voice teased despite the gravity of the situation. “You can’t tell me that’s the loudest you can get.”
It was obvious he had been trying to ease his own stress.
Mika made a Pfffft-ing noise with her mouth, giving NE John a playful look. “I don’t see you trying to call out to them at all, now do I?” His attempt to tease eased Mika’s nerves, relaxing the atmosphere somewhat.
Meanwhile, Nijix continued the search with her crew. Hearing the CE over her communications, she pressed her comlink. She answered on the open channel.
=^= Nijix to Lt. Vras. I’m starting to suspect that myself. I’ve already notified my teams to be careful and report any odd behavior. The more pieces of this puzzle we have, the better.=^=
-NE, John Doe/ Lt. Nijix Tavium, CoS
In the walls, as always, the feminine voice to the base COS said quite faintly. “Still here. Please don’t tarry too long… Like I said… Can’t feel my legs.”
The journey otherwise was uneventful, and after enough wandering and a few pieces of rubble they parties were able to find the trapped Bolian, leg crushed against the wall.

As soon as the party saw the Bolian, Mika rushed forward. Then, she stopped, several paces short, remembering in a moment that she should probably let the Security team go first. She gave a friendly smile, and then turned and waited for Lieutenant Tavium’s direction.

Rainns stepped forward and motioned Doe to follow, he approached the Bolian Woman. “I’m Cadet Joseph Rainns with the U.S. Challenger, lets get you out of here.” He inspected the area to make sure nothing was amiss and then waved over Mika.

OOC: As a side note, Tavium isn’t there. I had her fade into the background so Rainns could take charge. It might be a good idea to contact her about finding the miners. This is so I can avoid her having knowledge she otherwise wouldn’t know, which is called meta-gaming.
-Janice B.
IC: When Mika rushed forward, John blinked and fought the impulse to grab her by the arm. Even though it was well in his right, being grabbed by someone in security never ended well. Thankfully, she regained her senses and stopped. His eyes went to Rainns then followed direction as he approached Mira. John stood there, ready to hold her back if needed.
-NE, John Doe
When John grabbed Mika, she turned abruptly, going into a fighting stance. But thankfully, before she did anything, she noticed who it was. “Don’t do that! I promise I won’t do anything stupid.” She said to him, and then waited for Rainns to wave her over. Once he did, she rushed up to the Bolian. “How’re you doing? Let me take a look.”

“Well, you know… I can’t feel my legs,” the woman said as she motioned to the leg caught under the rubble but then motioned back over her shoulder to a room that looked like a shipping container forced into the rock, “That is where everyone else is. One of the geologists says the tunnel isn’t safe… We all need to get out of here as quickly as possible. Once we are topside I’ll explain.”
GM Wombat
As the Bolian had begun talking Rainns could not help but feel a sense of suspicion build in his gut. He motioned for Doe to approach the door and access the room. He looked down at the woman as Mika tended to her, “How did you get stuck down here?” the young cadet asked in a neutral tone, masking his suspicion as curiosity. In his head, something was not adding up, the fact that the accident may have been intentional was not soothing to the young man either.

Mika examined the Bolian, looking for injuries. “We need to get her out of here. Her leg’s trapped,” she said to Rainns. “What’s your name?” she asked, turning back to the woman. Mika was also aware that this may not have been an accident… and if it wasn’t, she quietly worried that it may not be the only explosion to hit this mine.

NE John frowned. His eyes narrowed and he bit his retort back, knowing better than to inflame the situation. The man inhaled then apologized.
“Sorry, it’s my job to ensure your safety. I can’t do that when you rush into a situation. I know there’s injured and time is important, but you get hurt and it only hurts our efforts. I don’t think you want to be treating yourself instead of the patients.” He grumbled at the fact her actions indicated she had forgotten about the Chief’s orders.
Not knowing if the words sank in, he spotted Rainns’ signal and stepped into the tunnel. He moved past the trio and focused his attention on the shipping container. Cautiously moving closer, he began to ask questions.
“All right, can they hear us through this thing? Are they trapped inside?” Meanwhile, he examined the outside to see if anything blocked it or prevented it from opening. John also didn’t want to frighten the miners inside or get clobbered by startled miners.
-NE, John Doe
“Knock on the door,” the Bolian said before grunting. “My name is Zesen Borefar. I am the Chief of Security for this station. I got trapped because of....” She motioned to the stack of rocks and laughed. “The mine wont let me go.”
She glanced at the two cadets hovering over her with their suspicious glances, and then made a hurry up motion, “Get us out of here before there is another collapse, yes? I don’t fancy dying down here.”
GM Wombat
Rainns found the security chief’s explanation to be lacking. He noticed that she dodged his question and took note that she asserted there would be another collapse. “Doe!” Rainns called out, ” Get back over here and help us free Borefar!” He kept his hand on his phaser rifle, something was amiss, and he did not want to put his guard down. He kept his eye on the Bolian, trying to notice if anything stood out as odd.

Mika smiled at what Borefar said, about the rocks. “Well, then, let’s get you out of here.” Glancing back, she said, “Doe, help me free her legs. I can’t lift these rocks on my own.” She had also noticed that she did not seem to be telling the whole truth. But for now, she was focused on rescuing Borefar.

John had been about to knock, only to pause. The female Bolian appeared in a rush to get out of here and he couldn’t blame her. The rocks appeared like they could cave in at any moment. When Rainns cried out, the man flinched and he quickly retreated back to them.
He nodded then started to assist Mika. His fingers gripped whatever loose rocks he could as he pulled them away. Each time they began to shift, he stopped and redirected his efforts to lessen the pressure. He took a moment to nervously glance around.
“Just us three won’t be enough. Not if we want to be fast about it. We should contact Chief Tavium and have her group help us.” He stated, looking at Rainns to make the call.
Even if he didn’t, John knew Tavium’s group would show up at some point. Their tunnel didn’t have the survivors it seemed.
-NE, John Doe
Rainns acknowledged the Cadet’s suggestion and nodded his head and agreement. =^= Rainns to Tavium, we have encountered at lost one survivor and possibly more, we require assistance in getting them out of the tunnels. =^= Rainns looked at Mika, “If you have a medical tricorder now might be a good time to scan behind that door and see how many more survivors are down here at the moment.”
L.T. J.G. Joseph Rainns- COS
“You’re going to have to sit tight just a moment, Borefar. We need help moving this rubble. I’ll be right back, okay?” Mika said to the Bolian, and then stood and moved towards the door, scanning it with her tricorder. “Of course I’ve got one. Give it a minute.” She said, watching the screen for the results. At least she wasn’t nervous anymore. She felt like she was running back and forth, from task to task, and she worried she wasn’t experienced enough to do this on her own. She wished Lieutenant Tija were here. Or at least someone else from Medical.

Suddenly the CMO’s voice could be heard through the CoS combadge. =/\= Tija to Tavium. Do you need further assistant Lieutenant? We treated everyone in the bunker and could help you. =/\=
