Sharah was FINALLY back to a full work detail. She was so happy she was bouncing as she walked into sickbay. “Hey NE Nurse! How is everything? Are we busy? A lot to do? Where do I need to start?” Sharah asked while she grabbed a PaDD and ‘reported in’ grabbed a lab coat and headed into the main sickbay…it was EMPTY. “What?” NE Nurse chuckled, “Glad you’re ready for work, but it’s been slow today.” Sharah groaned. “I’m going to find LT. Mika. There HAS to be something to do.”
She walked over to Mika’s office and knocked, “Hi Lt. Do you have anything for me to do?”

Cadet Fayth, Doctor

“Cadet Fayth!” Mika said, smiling, and she stood from her desk, abandoning whatever it was she had been doing. “How are you doing? Better, I hope?” She was quite glad she had a Cadet so eager to work, but she did not want to drop the Cadet straight back into the deep end right off the bat. Not… that there was much of a deep end at the time. The sickbay was nearly completely empty. Apparently, no-one on the ship had felt the need to injure themselves or get sick. Which made Mika happy, but bored. “I haven’t got enough for myself to do, quite honestly. If you’d like, you can work on some research, or we can do training drills.”

Sharah’s eyes lit up, “Either, both? I’m feeling great and if you tell me I have to sit and twiddle my thumbs for another day I may die of boredom.” Sharah stopped to think carefully. “Training drills maybe. I was so sick that I feel like it might be a good idea, to get up to speed again. But research…oh” her eyes lit up again, “survival medical techniques? Oh I would love that.”

Mika grinned. “In Sickbay, boredom is usually a good thing, you know.” She waited patiently for Sharah to answer, willing to go either way. But when Sharah mentioned survival medical techniques, Mika lit up as well. “That sounds like a fantastic idea! I would love to help out with that.”

“Really?! We should do that. We could set up a scenario on the holodeck to practice. Also the Arboretum is full of really cool plants from all over. It may be a good starting point for looking at common chemical compositions of plants that can be used for medicines.
Cadet Fayth, Doctor

Mika nodded, smiling. “Yes, really. I do remember mentioning to you that was also an interest area of mine. I would say the Arboretum would be more advantageous in a research perspective, while the holodeck is good for training or practicing. I’ll leave it up to you again. Which would you rather do?”

Sharah contemplated for a moment, “I think that we should start with holodeck simulations. It will see what we already know, and what we need to find out about. Then we can move onto trying to catalogue chemical and mineral compositions of natural resources to use as emergency medicines.” Sharah hoped the Lt liked that idea. She really wanted to do a good job and make a good impression.
