Joseph just smiled, and put his arms around Fayth to hug her, “I have a problem with expressing emotions,” he said, “but just so you know, the feeling is mutual.” Ever since he was a teenager Joseph had never felt comfortable expressing romantic feelings, a personal quirk that still dogged him to the moment. He hoped he wouldn’t have to say anymore, and that Sharah would understand exactly how he felt without him having to verbalize it.

She smiled and hugged him back, and in an effort to joke slightly Sharah tapped her head, “Remember, you won’t ever have trouble expressing yourself with me or me understanding. Unless you get REALLY good at that Cardassian thing you were doing. So, I do need an answer though. Dinner, yes or no? I’m off duty for a few more days if you say yes you pick when.”

She realized she had used up much of his time. “I’m sorry Joseph. I shouldn’t have kept you this long. I’m settled in and you can tell the doctor I was good and didn’t wander off. I’ll be okay by myself now.”

Cadet Fayth, Doctor

“Put me down for a yes,” Rainns smiled, letting go of Sharah, “And as for those techniques, I don’t think I’ll be pursuing them anymore, just seems like a fruitless endeavor. I’ll be free tomorrow evening if that works for you.” Joseph took several steps and headed for the door, “Have a good evening doc, see you around.”

“Tomorrow night then. Oh what’s your favorite?” She waited for him to tell her.
The professional came out of her, “No, you don’t get to give up. It’s not fruitless and for someone in security it’s a good idea. And it worked. You have some natural talent in that area. Good night Rainns.”

Cadet Fayth, Doctor

“I’m a fan of Italian food,” Rainns said over his shoulder as he walked through door, “Goodnight Fayth.” What he hadn’t mentioned, and done everything in his power to shield his mind from Fayth, was his hunch that had formed over the past few weeks, what he had done the night Fayth succumbed to her illness wasn’t possible, interacting with another persons mind in the capacity that he had. He began suspecting he might not be fully human. He had already sent in a sample of his genetic structure to Earth to be analyzed by his brother, and he would be getting the results later that evening. Needless to say, he was slightly anxious.

Sharah locked her door and dimmed the lights, grinning like a school girl. She sat down and called her brother to let him know she had been released from sickbay and to reassure him again she was going to be okay. He lectured her at length, which she took oh so seriously, told him how much she loved him and then signed off. It had been a lazy two weeks but she still had a lot of healing to do so she went to bed, which was a real treat compared to that biobed she had been confined to.
