“Nothing concrete, just a couple of personal planners that show she was doing some sort of meditation,” Rainns responded. He was heavily discouraged by the fact that nothing seemed to be lending itself to him as an answer, and it was becoming extremely obnoxious to him that he couldn’t put all the pieces together, he had them all on the table, but he just couldn’t put them together,

Mika had been working on coming up with answers, but so far, she was empty handed. Coming back into the Sickbay, she headed towards Fayth’s bed. About halfway there, she began to hurry over. “You’re awake?” She asked Fayth, her frown deepening. Temporarily dismissing that, she turned to Rainns. “Have you found anything interesting so far?”

~ Lt. JG Mika, CMO

Fayth couldn’t really talk she was too groggy from the meds and too disoriented to do anything else but look at Mika hoping she could figure out what was wrong with her. The longer she was awake the higher her respiration and heart rate went up. She was also spiking a fever of around 104. She also kept trying to claw at her scalp. She was clammy and shivering.

‘Itches, and burns.’ she tried to tell Joseph, ‘cold…I’m cold....Cold chills’

Turning to one of the other doctors, NE Colton, nearby, she quickly asked for the tricorder he was holding and promptly began scanning Fayth with it. The biobed recorded her respiration and heart rate, and the numbers were quite worrying to Mika. The tricorder showed the fever. “We need to lower her temperature, right away, ” She said to Rainns and NE Colton. To the doctor, she relayed further orders to get something to help Fayth. In her case notes, she noted all the information, and Fayth’s behavior, the clawing at her scalp. “And get something to sedate her! She shouldn’t be awake. Not yet.” She added to her orders.

Mika didn’t feel she’d been CMO long enough for this. She longed for the guidance of her old mentor, her mind racing through possibilities. But she hadn’t any ideas. Fayth’s symptoms didn’t match any disease or virus she knew of. She felt like if she just had more experience, she’d know. She’d just be able to fix everything, and her Cadet would be okay. Instead, Fayth’s condition seemed to be declining, and far too rapidly for comfort.

Forcing herself to calm down, slowing her thoughts, she decided she needed to gather all the relevant information. She went back to Medical basics. Things like, what are the symptoms. How long have they been present. What seems to be affected. Whatever it was, she needed to get ahead of, rather than stand in its wake. She had to think…

Rainns. He’d been with her when she collapsed, at least. He certainly wasn’t one of her doctors, but maybe he knew something helpful. So, she turned to him. “Rainns. You’ve been spending time with her recently. Do you know of anything unusual? Any… weird behavior, symptoms… especially since she is a Betazoid, and it appears to be affecting her paracortex, has she said anything about her telepathic abilities?”

~ Lt. JG Mika, CMO

In addition to the respiration, heart rate, and temperature the tricorder was recording some very strange readings. The Psilosynine levels (chemical/hormone that allows telepathy in Betazoids) in her paracortex were spiking and dropping in an alarming manner. A look at Sharah’s history shows the levels are always extremely above normal and steady. They have never spiked like that before.

Rainns pondered for a minutes, “ All I can tell your for certain is that whatever is afflicting her started two weeks ago.” He had some working theories, but he was unable to prove any of the them at the moment.

NE Nurse looks up at Rainns shocked, “Two weeks? She’s been having abnormal behavior for two weeks and only now got sick?” She really liked working with Cadet Fayth, she was a good doctor and very knowledgable and good with patients, of all types. “Where was she two weeks ago when it started?”

Sharah was having a hard time. She couldn’t concentrate too much it started feeling like glass piercing her head. She tried to reach out for Rainns but it was feable at best. She caught glimpses of her brother’s face in his recent memory. ‘Andrew’s here?’ there was hope and a little fear. Her “voice” very much a whisper but she wanted to know, ‘Am I dying? Andrew wouldn’t come if I wasn’t dying.’
