After the sedative wore off the first time, a regular dosing schedule was set up to keep Sharah quiet. She appeared to sleep, though there were times her face registered pain. There were similar incidences in the medical logs of Betazoid collapsing. The most notable was Lwaxana Troi. Apparently is was caused by a psychic overload. From what Mika could tell it was almost like what happened to Earth patients of the 21st century that suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Ambassador Troi had blacked out when a particularly painful memory had been unlocked by an incident on the ship. Her daughter with the help of a Cairn delegate. Unfortunately Mika had access to neither a family member or a member of the Cairn race.
The difference being that Ambassador Troi was non responsive to any stimulation. Mika knew Sharah was responsive to physical stimuli between doses of sedative, but she had no idea of she telepathically responsive stimuli, she didn’t know of anyone on board who could tell her.

All scans of patients like this showed abnormalities to the paracortex. In Ambassador Troi’s case here paracortex had become enlarged and swollen. A danger of burn out and then brain damage was imminent without help. Of there could simply be minor distress to the paracortex, much like a pulled muscle. Tissue regeneration sometimes helped and even anti-inflammatories had been recommended, but there was no decisive answer if those things would really work on someone like Sharah, but they didn’t hurt her either. It was the course of action given when she was in the hospital when she was 15.

Someone would have to investigate her routine to determine if, when, and what had happened. It could be a parasite or virus. Where she had been and what she was doing could rule out a lot of things.

In main sickbay the NE and little girl came back in. “Nurse, Dr. Fayth told me to bring her back in this morning to make sure her leg had healed okay. Is she here? My sister really liked her.” The nurse smiled down at the little girl and pulled up the report. This was the last patient Cadet Fayth had seen on shift last night. The nurse really liked Fayth. She was good with the patients and compassionate. “Choose a biobed and I will go get Dr. Mika.”

The nurse went over to Mika’s office, “Excuse me, Lt. Mika. There is an NE and her little sister here.” She passed over the PaDD, “Apparently this little girl was the patient Cadet Fayth saw last night.”
