After reporting for duty, Sharah made her way to the counselor’s office. She was ready to be done and find her quarters. She could use a nap, but probably food. She was excited to be placed on her first star ship. This morning she woke full of energy and seemed unable to sit still, now the adrenaline had worn off and she could feel it. Shaking off the sudden weariness she rang the chime outside the door. The door slid open and the office on the other was unlike any area in the rest of the ship. It was lit in a more subdued manner than the rest of the ship, with the light coming from wall lamps rather than the typical overhead lighting. Multiple bookcases with glass enclosed shelves lined one wall, filled with copies and originals of many texts on many different subjects, and a quick glance would show multiple languages as well. The desk was set at an angle against the opposite wall to the door in the corner, allowing for a large open space in the middle. Here there was a couch and a few chairs, one of which sat in front of and facing away from the desk. Pictures hung on the walls, some were even old photographs. Each depicted either places, individuals, or groups of people, and many were in black and white.
The Counselor was wholly plain looking; in fact so nondescript that he almost blended in with the office. His voice, on the other hand, was distinctive. “Hello. I am Lieutenant Commander Korczak. Please have a seat, Cadet? I trust your trip to the ship was uneventful?” The man had a most unusual accent, as if two wholly unrelated accents were vying for control. Even with that, his speech was clear and articulate; with crisp pronunciation and diction. The only other noticeable fact of the man were the glasses perched on his nose… actual glasses.
Korczak, CNS
This was the on-boarding meeting Sharah was most looking forward to. The counselor’s office was where she felt most comfortable. She knew before arriving what the expectations were and all the ones she had met were inevitably very calm at least inside the office. It wasn’t a balm to her crazy mind, but at least while there she didn’t have to sort through all the excess static. Before sitting down Sharah handed a PaDD to Korczak. “Lt. Cmdr. Korczak, I’m Cadet Sharah Fayth.” Sharah sat down on the couch and stretched out her legs. Obviously very comfortable. The PaDD was very lengthy with several reports. Apparently she was in counseling several times a week with a Neropsychologist at the Academy. Before that she saw several psychology experts on Betazed. “My trip was uneventful, though I had to take a very late shuttle to get here. I had several lab reports to finish before I could leave for the ship. I really like your office, it’s very soft and restful. I’m going to like it in here.” She glanced around the room again, “Oh you have books! Do you ever lend them out?” She was rather excited about getting her hands on new texts.
Another quick glance at the PaDD told Korczak that the Challenger had been chosen for Sharah so that she wouldn’t know anyone and hopefully would attempt to get to know her crewmates in a more in person manner. Allow herself a new start on a smaller ship and smaller crew.
