I’ll call you soon, I promise. Love you! xx. Aili finished typing on her PADD as she spooned up another sip of soup. There were few things she liked better for her lunch in the middle of a long day than grilled cheese and tomato soup. There was always something off about the replicated grilled cheese though, it just never quite captured the true scorchy, crunchy, meltiness of the real stuff. Not one to fuss, she enjoyed it nonetheless. Switching off her PADD’s screen, she pushed it aside and raised her head to wonder at the stars. She always chose a window side table if possible. If she was going to spend a career in space, she was going to live a life as full of as many views of the great expanse of the galaxy as possible. Many she had grown up among felt intimidated by the scale of the universe around them but not Aili. She was comforted, and made to feel at peace, by infinity.

Cadet McMorran - Science

Unfortunately, the peace was destined to be interrupted by the last person to expect. Cadet Trenton walked up to the table and lightly tapped on it with the nail of her left index finger in two solid but rapid sounds. In uniform, the cadet looked less abnormal than her civilian attire matching with anyone else that is a member of security. Her eyes were lit with the fire of creativity, but she lacked the skills to bring it to fruition. To do so would require a new friend, more practice for social skills. “Good afternoon, might I take up a significant portion of your time and space? I do promise to return it upon request.”

Sitting across the mess hall was Rainns, finishing up his lunch and playing a game of chess on his padd. He noticed when McMoran entered but noticed she was sitting alone stargazing and decided not to interfere. He also noticed when Trenton entered the mess hall and made her towards McMoran, he sighed, and went back to his chess game, if Trenton got too erratic for McMoran to handle he would intervene, but until that time, he saw no reason to move. He wasn’t feeling particularly social and his presence would probably only make the situation worse.

Aili’s trance was shattered by the voice of the other cadet. Oh no, not Magic Gown Woman. “Ah, of course. Please!” Her hand took it upon itself to gesture to the seat across from her. “I’ll hold you to that”, Aili responded to her quip, forcing a lean chuckle. “What can I do you for?”

IC: Cadet Trenton took the seat and paused, looking over Aili for a long moment as if trying to sense something or figure something out. Whatever line of thought she had clearly wasn’t important to dwell on as she set a PaDD on the table and slid it over to the other cadet conspiratorially. “I need help designing a holodeck program that will bend the safety protocols just a little bit. It’s not wrong or against protocol, just that the base programming doesn’t allow for more than a one-point-five-meter drop unless you know exactly what you’re doing and to be blunt, I don’t. I’m trying to program in a running course for Parkour and Zero Gravity, but the coding gets really complex and doesn’t always cooperate with the novice engineer. Do you think you’ll be able to help?” The PaDD has the specifications for the course itself, some rather long drops, measurements and angles, gravitational change rates and locations, it’s a fairly ambitious project but manageable.

Sharah walked in before her shift in sickbay. She was going to eat, around other people, and enjoy it. Whether she liked it or not. She nodded to herself and walked over to a replicator and ordered cheesy potato soup. She turned around and saw Rainns sitting alone at a table. Crazy voice lady was sitting with Aili and though she inherently liked Ashlyn wasn’t sure where to go. She stood in the middle of the room trying to decide where to eat. ‘Good grief Sharah, you won’t have time to eat before shift you stand there like an idiot.’ Aili and Ashlyn looked to be discussing a hot topic so she walked over to Rainns. She glanced at the PaDD, “You know, you’re loosing to yourself.”
Cadet Fayth, Doctor

“I should be able to figure something out, if when I have the time. It’s going to be a very busy few days for me but…”, she reached out for the PADD, “if I take this and have a look, I can let you know how long it’ll take?” With her other hand she lifter her toasted and took a sizable bite. She had been enjoying her peace and whilst the other cadet was being nothing but friendly, she wasn’t too keen to socialise then and there.
