Whatever words Aili had been preparing for ejection from her mind to her mouth were blown aside by the arrival of the two men. She looked on with visible surprise as each introduced himself. She didn’t know why she had apparently been the vanguard of a social assault on poor Sharah but she wasn’t feeling up to milling among a group of that size. “I’m… going to grab another drink”, she said as her head swivelled to look each of the other three cadets in the eyes. She nodded gently at Sharah. “Nice to meet you Sharah”. As she turned away, she placed a hand on Rainns’ shoulder and whispered simply: “Thank you”.
Returning to where her evening had begun, Aili saw the three cadets sitting there but primarily she saw Tandra. Taking a deep breath, she decided on her next move. Approaching the bar, she pulled out the stool next to Aili and sat herself down. She chose not to announce her presence, instead looking to the bartender for a fresh drink. When she realised he was rather busy brushing up broken glass, she elected to wait until he was finished. She swivelled to face the other cadets and leaned on the bar, wearing a friendly smile and listening in to their conversation.
Cadet McMorran - Science
Sharah gazed back at the unknown cadet. He was puzzled by her and she wasn’t sure why. When the look of recognition crossed his face she felt a stab of fear and then a rush of adrenaline. Surely this cadet hadn’t recognized her from the rumors that followed her around. Of course the rumors were restricted mostly to the medical field, or so she hoped. When he piped up about her Betazoid eyes, she smiled brightly and relaxed. She had forgotten how different her eyes were, no one ever seemed to notice that about her once they got to ‘know’ her. “Yes, I’ve always been fascinated by what evolutionary factors have caused us on Betazed to have all black eyes. I’m Sharah Fayth.” She held out her hand to the cadet.
As Aili got up, Sharah smiled. “It was nice to meet you Aili. ” Sharah hoped the fact she was Betazoid hadn’t scared her off. She knew most people didn’t blink an eye about telepaths, but she wasn’t most telepaths. She fought back the thoughts swirling around the room. She didn’t want to know everyone’s personal thoughts.
Cadet Fayth, Doctor
Joseph observed the Betazoids reaction to Griess’s questioning, and noticed the cadet’s unease, his mind began turning as to what the cadet had gotten so on edge over. He smiled and put his drink down on the table, nodding at McMoran as she stepped towards the bar with an encouraging smile. He turned back to Fayth, “Don’t mean to overwhelm or interrogate you, but I have to ask, how telepathic are you?” He looked into the cadet’s eyes. He found betazoid eyes to be beautiful, and her’s was no exception. He knew that she could probably know that and so tried to get that thought out of his head.
Cadet Joseph Rainns- Security
Because he was watching her so closely Joseph could see the intense sadness that crossed her eyes at his question. Oh how she wished she hadn’t come here. Being seen as antisocial would be so much easier than being seen as a pariah. She wouldn’t invade his privacy though she knew he was thinking about her. She wouldn’t allow more than that to register, she just wouldn’t. She forced a smile, “All Betazoids are telepathic and empathic, to some degree. We are considered one of more adept and powerful of the telepathic species. Most who find work outside of our world become negotiators, psychiatrists, or diplomats. Though our artisan trade is very robust and our craftsmen are quite skilled.” Because her species always adheres to the truth she felt guilty for not answering his question directly. She had learned to hedge the truth in the Academy, but she always felt guilty about it. She liked how his gaze and attention was focused on her. No one really wanted to be that direct, mostly they felt if they didn’t look or engage with her she wouldn’t know what they were thinking. If only that were so. He seemed confident and simply curious and she liked that. She sighed, “I’m more telepathic than you would probably like.” She wondered how soon she could get out of there. This was a bad idea, maybe she should have gone into solitary research. She saw Lt. Mika at the bar and figured if she left so soon her DH would notice. It was expected to get along with one’s crew members, but she had promised not to cause trouble.
Cadet Fayth, DoctorOOC: Hey, guys! I am absolutely loving this thread and how active you all are in it. I know that there are a bunch of you involved so it might be difficult, but please do try to remember to snip out previous posts when you respond. It saves the thumbs of our mobile users. :)

Greiss was perplexed by the way Shara acted, appearing closed off and overly formal in his eyes. A compassionate worry filled his voice as he spoke to her. “I don’t think I recognize you, I’m Winston. Most people call me by my last name though, It’s Greiss, if you were wondering. You alright there? No need to ramble about Betazoids as a whole, I took a xenocultural anthropology course on the side at the academy, you know.” He smiled eagerly. “Tell us about you. I always love to hear about people’s stories.”

Mika was entirely too distracted to notice that Sharah had come. Surely she’d notice soon, but at the moment, between desperately trying to blot the spilled soda out of her clothes and off the bar, and the fact that Aili had just sat down next to her, she was focused on little else. As soon as Aili had sat down, Mika turned to her, still holding a wad of wet napkins. “Oh! Aili, hey!” She said, chuckling and gesturing to her still very wet lap. “Not exactly my most flattering moment…” she said, her face flushing slightly. Snatching another wad of fresh napkins, she continued blotting up the mess.
