Sharah is short, 5‘2”, with blue black hair that bounces with the slightest movement. It is the band of her daily routine. She entered sickbay, instinctively feeling the presence of those around her. She stepped into the main medical bay and walks over to the first available doctor. “Cadet Sharah Fayth reporting for onboarding medical exam.” She handed the PADD with her medical records to the doctor.

OOC: Once again, welcome aboard! That’s a good first post, too! Just one little thing - remember to sign off your post as your character, so we know who’s talking. Like I’ve done at the end of this one! It doesn’t really matter how you do it, just so long as your character’s name is in it :)

IC:
NE Benson happened to be the doctor that Fayth caught the attention of. “Oh yes, of course. Let me get Doctor Mika. She’ll be handling your exam today,” said he, taking the PaDD when Cadet Fayth offered it. Then, he rushed off into the business that was the sickbay.

And just a few moments later, a shorter woman of 5‘4’’ headed up to Fayth, smiling a friendly smile. Her hair, once cut into a pixie cut style, had grown out somewhat. Down to her ears, in fact, and it looked quite messy. She was also quite young - she could be a Cadet herself. Just a tad nervous, she carried with her a tricorder and the PaDD that Cadet Fayth had given to NE Benson. “Sorry, it’s been pretty busy around here lately,” she said, finally stopping a few paces away from Cadet Fayth.

“So. You must be Cadet Fayth, huh? Glad to meet you! I’m Ca- Lieutenant Mika, the Chief Medical Officer.” She said, and gave another friendly, if somewhat nervous, smile. Her uniform indicated that she was a Junior Lieutenant, so her newness was… probably to be expected. Okay, Tandra, she thought, giving herself an internal pep-talk, You’ve done this, like, fifty times. There’s always new Cadets aboard this ship. We can tackle the CMO stuff after this. “Why don’t we get started? And once I’ve finished your onboarding physical, we can head to my office for your check-in.”

Sharah liked this CMO. She felt very at ease and her rigid self control slipped just a bit and she caught the beginning of Lt. Mika’s thoughts to herself. She stopped that immediately and blushed slightly. Other species were so different from Betazoids. Catching thoughts/feelings of others was natural and just happened. It kept them honest and usually prevented strife. Though there were those that took advantage of that openness and twisted it into something ugly and took advantage of others. Her biggest fear was that her crew mates would see her that way. Sharah hopped onto the bio bed for her exam.

“I’m very glad to meet you as well Lt. I am very excited to be here. I’ve heard great things about the Challenger. I am also up to date on the current mission. I assume we will need to set up a triage here, or possibly a cargo bay? I haven’t heard how many people are trapped in the mines.” Sharah really wanted to make a good first impression with her first DH. Lt. Mika’s reviews and evaluations could make or break her career. She liked that she seemed almost as nervous as Sharah was. And they were pretty close in height. Most people towered over Sharah and she was glad to not have to arch her neck to look up at the Lt.

OOC: So, for future reference, this generally occurs before the main sim. However, this time, we’ll just work with it. XD On another note, I realize that last time I forgot to explain this, so if you don’t know, NE stands for Nameless Ensign, and it’s basically an NPC character used for mundane tasks, or like redshirts in the original series. :)

If Mika had known that Fayth could hear her thoughts, she’d be utterly embarrassed. However, she had convieniently forgotten that Betazoids had that particular ability.

“Yes, the Challenger is a fantastic ship,” Mika said, nodding. “As for the miners… We don’t know yet. We’re planning on sending a team down. We can hope for the best.”

Tandra liked that Fayth seemed at ease. She remembered how stressful her own first day had been, and though the previous CMO, Lt. Tija, was short too, and a great teacher, she had been very… curt, and sometimes that made it hard to know whether you were doing well or not. Though Mika did very much look up to Lt. Tija, she wanted to handle things a little differently.

As Mika started into the usual evaluation stuff, she seemed to relax. “So. I’ve got your file here…” she said, reading through the file that was open on the PaDD. “Is there anything that wouldn’t be on here that I’d need to know? Any changes in sleeping habits or eating habits, or trips outside Federation space, or anything like that.”
