Emmy listened as the away team communicated with one another and acknowledged the information from Garth. “Establish and maintain a transporter lock on the away team in case we need to get them out of there,” she instructed. It made her feel significantly better to be able to have that backup plan, at least for now.Davis, CO
Garth put out a hand to stop McMorran from leaving the bridge. “Make what calculations you can from this station, cadet. I’ll need your help here if the circumstances change. When the time comes and we receive the order from the captain to prepare for transport, head to the main transporter room.” He nodded confirmation at Captain Davis and looked at McMorran. “Looks like you’ll be getting some more practice with operations, cadet.”
The tellarite leaned down to squint at the readings he had been previously inspecting, potentially trying to make sure there was no space for acknowledgement that he had admitted that he trusted McMorran for such an important task, nor that he had so plainly said that he might need her help.

The sides of Emmy’s pressed together lips quirked up slightly as Garth’s attention briefly rested on her. She offered a slight nod of acknowledgement.

Cadet McMorran outwardly smiled as Garth turned away providing an outlet for the glow of immense relief that filled her. Garth may have been offish but Aili respected his lack of false warmth. The juxtaposition of his manner the much needed validation his words had just provided her with only served to emphasise his sentiment. Calming herself, Aili began turning back to her station, quickly suppressing her expression by pursing her lips as her peripheral vision caught the captain facing her and Garth. Carefully avoiding making eye contact with Davis, Aili approached the console she had worked at before. Reconfiguring it for her new task, she put herself in contact with the operations officer in the transporter room and began planning their collaboration.
Cadet McMorran - Science
Emmy noted McMorran’s effort to avoid eye contact with her with amusement and shook her head just enough that her blonde locks swished slightly. If only the cadet knew that eye contact wasn’t really her thing either…

The cranky transporter chief called back up to the bridge, =/\= What do you want cadet? Can’t ya see I am working here!=/\=
It was very well known that the chief, in fact, only worked when he absolutely had to. He was only a few years away from retirement but always seemed to be around when people needed him.

Having not expected the chief to open verbal communications, McMorran was caught of gaurd when he did so. “I… can’t. I… oh”. =^=I’m sorry to interrupt your work chief. Did you receive my messages? We are to collaborate on readying the transporter system to compensate for the atmospheric interference. I’m transferring you the data we’ve collected on the storms now, along with the model I put together to predict its behaviour. I know the storm, you know the transporters. We can make this work.=^=
Aili had encountered the chief only once previously, when he had appeared in astrometrics just as she was having trouble with detector hardware. Few words were exchanged but he had seemed silently well mannered, although she sensed that avoiding getting on his bad side might be worthwhile for everyone involved. Her future words over the com-channel were informed by this quasi-lesson.
Cadet McMorran - Science
Emmy listened to the cadet handle the transporter chief with amusement. She could certainly step in, but it was a more educational experience for the cadet to navigate this coordination herself.

Having delegated the transporter task to McMorran, Garth refocused his efforts on using the ship’s sensors to observe the storm and hopefully maintain the communications between the Challenger and the awya team. He funneled whatever updated information he found to McMorran. After a few seconds had passed, Garth finally looked up to look at the Captain. His head tilted slightly in McMorran’s direction before he offered a slight shrug to signal his approval to the Captain.
