Janusz walked onto the bridge and looked around, his face impassive. Inside, however, he was dancing with joy. His first starship assignment, and here he was on the bridge! The excitement was palpable, but he kept his face expressionless. He made his way to the doors of the Captain’s office and pressed the chime.

“Come in!” Captain Weir called out from behind his desk. Samuel was able to sense the new Counselor behind his door, and felt somewhat nervous with having a Counselor doing their first starship tour on the a Cadet cruise. The old Counselor had done well, but moved on to bigger and better things. All personal opinions aside, Weir needed to give the new CNS a chance to prove himself.

Janusz walked through the door and approached the desk directly. He was an average looking man of average height and build, with brown hair and brown eyes. Altogether a most unassuming and forgettable look. But he had a warm smile on his face and an informal but open look of greeting. “Hello, Captain. I am Lieutenant Commander Korczak, doctor of psychology and psychiatry. I am your new Counselor, replacing Mr. Sinclair. Here are my orders, Sir.” and he handed a PaDD out to the Captain. “I was asked to extend apologies on behalf of Admiral Klausman for taking away Commander Sinclair on such short notice.” Korczak’s words were crisp and clear, but came from a voice containing a most unusual accent.

“Do take a seat, Commander.” The Captain said, pointing at a chair set in front of his desk. Weir glanced over the Counselor’s orders and then set the PaDD down. “I’ve read that this is your first ship assignment?” Sam asked. He didn’t want to put the new officer on the spot, but serving on a starship was far different that serving on a space station or planet.

Korczak sat as indicated and leaned back in the chair, crossing his legs at the knee. He kept his arms on the rests of the chair, and watched the Captain as he went over his orders. When Weir asked the question, Korczak nodded. He had expected the question, albeit not the first question he was asked. “Yes, Sir. It is. Although I have served in many different environments, but my tenure in each was limited to the duration of whatever… task… I was a part of. This is the first time I have been permanently assigned to a star ship. I am quite looking forward to it, actually.”
