Finally the Quarter Master had assigned her quarters and after dropping off her belongings (she would sort and put them away at a more convenient time), she decided she may as well get it over with the dreaded visit with the Counselor. After reporting to her DH and the usual physical in Sickbay she couldn’t really put it off much longer though she was certainly saving it for last.

Making her way down the corridor in search once again, she was fairly confident of heading in the right direction. Slowing a bit as thoughts of this man, Lieutenant Commander Sinclair, distracted her from her purpose. Through the ships grape vine she had discovered the ships Counselor used to be Chief of Security. In all reality she found this to be a little odd though she could not really pinpoint why....

She found herself staring at the Counselor’s name plate on the door before realizing she had arrived. “Here goes nothing,” she said out loud to herself no one else being around at the moment. Rarely being one to do things “normally” she knocks on the door, avoiding the chime once again.

The doors slid open to reveal the inside of the office. The office was almost completely bare, and there were a few crates stacked very neatly against one wall. Seated behind the desk, a relatively nondescript man looked up from a PaDD and smiled slightly. “Hello, may I help you Cadet?” he asked, his words coming through with an odd accent.

OOC: Fixing typo

She stepped confidently through the threshold then was somewhat taken aback upon observing the inside of the room. Stammering a bit and suddenly searching for her words Dr. Mantis approaches the desk, “pardon me Sir I must have somehow come to the wrong office by mistake. I’m looking for Counselor Sinclair.”

OOC: Just as a reminder, we always try to post in the third person, past tense. For example in your post above, it would be “… Dr. Mantis approached the desk…”
Not an issue, just wanted you to be aware. Sometimes I get the tenses mixed up myself!

IC: The seated man smiled warmly and adjusted the frameless glasses he wore and said “Right office. Wrong person, Cadet.” and he chuckled and stood and offered his hand. “I am Lieutenant Commander Korczak, the new Counselor. Commander Sinclair was transferred at the last minute this morning. I will be assuming his duties.” and he leaned in and whispered conspiratorially “And I just came from the Academy myself, so I am willing to bet we are both a bit nervous.”

Korczak’s speech was clear, but there was an odd accent to his words, as if multiple accents were vying for control. Fortunately, the competition lent a friendly sound to his speech.

OOC: Thanks I see that now. I’ve got to stop posting while dead tired. Also shame on you for switching characters on me mid posting :p lol.

IC: Lenore shook the gentleman’s hand vigorously as a held breath escaped her. A bit of the tension eased when he spoke. “Yes, a bit nervous indeed, having to come meet the councilor for the first time.” She said while her dark eyes gazed at him piercingly. “I was after all expecting a Scotsman.” Her hand still in his she leaned closer and mimicked his whisper. “I’m Dr. Mantis but you probably already knew that.”

OOC: Gotta keep you on your toes somehow!

IC: Korczak grinned and said “I did.” and he released her hand. “Sorry to disappoint. Apparently we had reached our quota for Scots and were lacking on Poles, so here I am.” and he chuckled. “Please be seated, Doctor. Would you care for a drink or a snack? The replicator here works wonderfully.”

The gentleman’s good humor caused her to laugh a bit too loudly as he seated herself. “Oh my goodness I must sound like some kind of hyena. Tea would be quite acceptable, sweet tea please.” She absentmindedly straitened the tunic of her uniform and pulled at a loose thread.

Korczak noted the motions in his head, and went to the replicator. He retrieved the sweet tea as Mantis requested, and then a hot black currant and lemon tea for himself. He sat both drinks on the small table between the Cadet and himself and the retrieved a PaDD from the desk and sat down facing her across the drink table. “I hope you don’t mind, but I will have to take some notes as we speak today. Now then… is there anything specific you wish to talk about?” he asked casually.
