The assignment to the USS Challenger came as a surprise to Ashlyn, a pleasant one for sure but one none the less. The shuttle to the star ship was obnoxious with the other cadets that couldn’t contain their excitement, telling their own stories about how this is the first step to one day making Captain of their own ships. Ashlyn had trouble interacting with these people on a personal level, their energy was just too much for her more calculative and introverted nature. Stepping off into the shuttle bay was a small relief that the young cadet allowed herself before asking the posted security member for the location of the birthing. Having intentionally caught an earlier shuttle, Ashlyn made sure to give herself more than enough time to get settled and freshened up before reporting to her superior. The route to birthing was easy enough to navigate and limited computer access allowed for viewing of the map when needed. Of course arriving at the birthing just in time to witness the usual arguments over who gets what bunk. Deciding not to take part in the argument, Ashlyn gathered what she needed and located a vent she could hide her bag within until she returned. The argument seem to stop as Ashlyn stored her bag, “Don’t stop on my account, I’ll take what’s left.” With that she found her way to the sonic showers to clean up.
After refreshing herself, Ashlyn took time to explore the ship with a data pad containing publicly released information about the Galaxy Class star ship. She kept awareness about herself, subtly watching the crewmen and women that pass by, observing corridors with a lull in activity, taking note of entry points for Jefferies Tubes. Eventually coming to the door to the Security Office. Ashlyn takes a deep breath in, counts to five, then lets the breath out. A quick tap to chime the door soon follows up.

Nijix hated that even after several interviews, she still found the process nerve-wrecking. Her eyes glanced over her tea and desk decor, causing her to slide her small tree to the side. It had purple crystallized leaves across natural bark with wire guiding its growth. Small pebble created a light contrast for it to perch on. Over all, it looked nice next to her holo display. Several sketches of her past cadets flipped in a repeating pattern.
She took a sip of her tea then spoke. “Come in.”

The door hissed open and Cadet Trenton finished schooling her face into the mask of professionalism she likes to maintain. Entering sharply and stoping four paces away, centered on the Lieutenant’s desk, coming to the position of attention like the cadet training had taught her. “Cadet Ashlyn Trenton reporting for duty.” The short young woman had clearly practiced this several times, her rigidity almost comical when offset by the PDD in her left hand. A light sheen of sweat begins to form, new person nerves or she did something wrong and is hoping the superior doesn’t notice.

Nijix’s lips curled into warm smile. “Take a seat please. Would you like some tea or something else? I know these interviews can leave me a bit unsettled and jittery.”
She gestured to the seat, but she didn’t pour a cup unless indicated otherwise. A mixture of lavender and sandal spread throughout the room.
