OOC: This is a continuation of something that started in Aili’s physical pre-sim. I’ll likely start up the ‘next day’ sim once we’ve finished this one, where all would be welcome to join! :)

“Yes, I’m sure they will,” Tandra did not suspect anything at all, though perhaps if she thought about it she might. But she was enjoying the company of Aili, so just then, she didn’t really care either way. She also had to report for duty later that day, but there were several hours before then, so she put it out of her mind. “Yeah,” she said, pointing at the same peak. “That one, there. What about it?”

Aili’s lips pursed before curling into a playful grin. “Race you!”, was all she exclaimed before pushing off one leg and accelerating down the slope of the hill, her hair, which she had taken down while waiting for Mika, blowing wildly around her head.

“Wait! Where’s the finish line?” Mika asked, jumping up and racing off after Aili. Aili had a rather large head start, but Mika was not slow. As she raced downhill, she picked up some speed, closing the gap between her and Aili.

“The peak!”, Aili shouted, turning her head so the other girl could hear her. Before she could turn back… “Yoww!”. She caught her foot on a small rock, stubbing her toe in the process, and toppled forward, just barely catching herself before she hit the ground. So much for holo-safety protocols, she thought, although slightly less politely. Aili began bringing herself to her feet and back into the race but if Mika kept running, she would easily have overtaken Aili.

Moments after Aili had fallen, Tandra stopped next to her. “You okay? That looked like a pretty nasty fall,” She asked, her brows coming together in worry. As she saw Aili get up, her worry lessened considerably, but she still stood by the other girl awaiting an answer.

Reaching her feet, Aili realised that Mika had stopped for her. “Oh I’m fine, thank you”, Aili responded. Having literally fallen flat on her face, she reckoned, ah what do I have to lose? Grabbed Mika’s hand: “Come on, don’t just stand there.” With that, she pulled Tandra towards the slope that rose to the peak.

Tandra had been caught off guard and was promptly yanked towards the slope. “Woah, alright, alright I’m coming!” She said, with a little laugh. “Getting impatient, are we?” She asked, grinning. “Something special up there?” She wasn’t sure what she hoped the answer would be, so she said it sort of teasingly, like a joke.

Letting her hand slip from Tandra’s, Aili began clambering up the steeper, higher section of the slops on all fours. “It’ll be worth it! Maybe! Probably not! Trust me on that!”, she yelled back through a laugh of her own.

Tandra followed Aili up the hill. “Now, if you want to finish that race, I bet I can beat you up there!” she said. The hill was getting rather steep now, and harder to climb, but Tandra was confident she could beat Aili up it - and impress her, of course.

“Oh, sure you can!”, Aili quipped back, in a faux-dismissive tone. Despite having not having planned or cared about this informal competition previously, Aili found herself determined not to be outdone at her own game. Recommitting to her pace, Aili made haste up the slope towards the point at which the exposed rock emerged from the earth, jutting several feet into the air forming a small platform-like structure. Her hurriedness proved to be her undoing however, as Aili lost her foothold and slid slightly backwards. Despite managing to regain her stablility, Mika would easily be able to reach the rock before she did at her current pace.
