Mika grabbed a tricorder and a PaDD, pulling up the Cadet’s medical file. “Just a few questions for you. Is there anything I’d need to know? That wouldn’t be here already? Anything like, an injury or an illness. Oh, or a trip out of the Federation, perhaps?” She asked. It was a bit rocky, certainly still a bit robotic, but she got the point across. She was determined to stumble through this whole thing, knowing that later on, it would get easier. “Were there any changes in your diet or sleeping patterns?” She finished, looking to McMorran for her answers. She wasn’t overly friendly, trying to keep professional. Besides, she knew nobody really liked answering all these questions.

IC: “It should all be there”, Aili responded, with a feigned smile, before continuing in a monotone voice: “I broke my left ankle as a child and my right arm in the Academy. I used to catch a bunch of chest infections back home. Out of the Federation? Not yet, unfortunately.” She paused, raising an eyebrow and donning a smirk: “I had seconds for my tea last night; twice the stew. Should I be concerned?”

Mika let out a quick laugh, shaking her head. “No, not at all.” She said. She opened the tricorder, taking the little node thing and began scanning the Cadet slowly, watching the screen.

The scan highlighted nothing particularly of note. In the Cadet’s right arm, the Ulna sported traces of nanites used in typical Federation medicine to repair broken bones, as would be expected from her medical record. In her left ankle however there were no similar traces, indicating that it had healed naturally after the breakage noted in the record.

Aili sat as still as she can, her eyes simply looking downward, tracing the movement of the tricorder with very slight apprehension.

“Looks good, McMorran,” Mika commented as soon as she had finished the scan. “You’re all healthy!” Mika tended to be fairly friendly, but at the moment she was all too concerned with keeping up a professional appearance. She figured socializing was best carried out later. “Did you have any other questions or anything?” She asked him.

“Glad to hear it”, Aili responded with a polite grin, “Eh, yes, actually… Do the Cadets here get together in any way… in the mess hall or a holodeck or something? It’d be nice to get to know some of the faces.” Aili had come to know Garth better than any other member of the crew, which was quite a statement as to the state of her sociability thus far on board the Challenger.

“Uh… honestly, not really.” Mika had just as much trouble getting to know the other Cadets, honestly, and she and some of the other Med Cadets had thought about organizing something, but as such, it hadn’t yet happened. “You could always organize something, or just invite someone, I guess…” She said, after a moment of thought. She had wanted to meet more of the crew, but it wasn’t going too well. She had been doing a lot of work, as well. “Tell you what though, you ever think of something, I’d be glad to join you,” she said, smiling.

“Noted”, Aili replied, as her eyes lit up and her smile became more genuine, “I’ll maybe see if I can reserve some holodeck time!” Jumping down from the biobed, she continued: “Well Doctor, it was nice to meet you. If I’m free to go?”

(Cadet McMorran - Science)

“Always good, yeah! The holodeck is fantastic,” Mika said, smiling. And then she nodded, and said, “You too! And yep, you’re free as a bird. Enjoy your time on the ship! I sure have.”

Aili let out a chuckle. “What is happening?”, she thought, “we were muddling through a physical 5 minutes ago”. Aili’s barriers didn’t usually come down so quickly when she was in her professional headspace. This girl was really getting to her. The fact that she found her rather cute was likely the driving force behind it, although Aili was trying not to think about that in that moment. “Heh, ah, well, it was lovel- good, it was good to meet you Doctor. Thank yo- thank you!”, she stuttered, kicking herself internally. She nodded to the Doctor once more, before turning and making her way out of the sickbay.
