“What do you feel you can contribute to the department and on a team?”-Lt. Nijix Tavium, CoS
“That’s a good question Sir. I would say my biggest strength that will help will be my critical thinking skills. Not only am I able to work through multiple outcomes to situations, but also to do so quickly and effectively. Of course, like any imperfect being, I may mistakes, but I am always willing to act on what I feel is the best decision, rather than be hamstrung with ‘what ifs’” Collins reflected back on the many years of being forced to think beyond what was ‘easy’ by his father. It caused a lot of friction between them back in the teen years, but Devon weathered that, and grew to love and respect his father, even if he knew that he would never follow in his footsteps into academia.“Not only that Sir, but I am a very hard worker, and will not quit. With that being said, of course, I am also willing to reach out for help as needed. I am only one man, and Starfleet has so many resources so we can all be succesful.”
Cadet Devon Collins, SecurityNijix nodded then made a note in her datapad. She took another sip of her tea before she replied to the Cadet’s statements.
“Within Starfleet, some times hard decisions are required. It can leave a lasting impression, both good and bad, on you. Something to be mindful of as you go through your career.”
She moved onto the next question. “What areas in your skill sets do you feel you lack in or needs improvement?”
Her hand raised the cup to take another sip as she waited for his answer. He had stated he wasn’t perfect, but he never elaborated on those weaknesses.

He sat back a little, taking a moment to think.
“Well sir, the main thing I can think of, which I’ve been trying to work on for quite some time, is the fact that I will sometimes act from emotion, rather than spending the time looking at the facts. I tend to rely on my gut, probably more than I should. It’s been something that’s gotten me into trouble before, but even when I was in trouble, I still felt more confident about myself than otherwise. I guess I’m having trouble explaining, but it comes down to, I’ll trust my gut, even when all logic says I shouldn’t. So, I’m trying to work on that, to rely more on the information than my reaction to it I guess.”
He felt like he hadn’t explained himself well, but perhaps working with his new boss, he could develop that skill so that he could feel comfortable ignoring his gut reaction sometimes.

“It makes sense. I recall a certain authority figure,” Nijix began as she recalled Raji’s past,” followed the same behavior. I just ask that you run whatever you suspect by me, and we’ll work together. Some times a gut feeling can lead to evidence.”
She made another note in her datapad.
“What schedule would work better for you? What one is the worst for you?”
-Lt. Nijix Tavium, CoS
“Thank you sir, as for me, I am able to work any schedule, though I do prefer starting early morning. I find I am much more capable at the beginning of the day, rather than at the end. So early morning into the regular day. But of course, again, I am more than capable of working at evening or through the night as well. Those shifts will not detract from my abilities.”
Finally, he was excited to get to the nitty gritty of his assignment. He had been looking forward to this for quite a long time now, and was on pins and needles about actually getting to work on his first starship. He hoped he was hiding his eagerness well, wouldn’t do to embarrass himself in front of his new boss…Cadet Devon Collins, Security
Nijix nodded then wrote something down and then selected another data pad. She passed it to him then explained.
“Here’s your work data pad. It has your schedule and any changes to it will be made on there. If you have questions about it, feel free to drop by or send a mail over it. It’s directly connected to my office.”
She settled back in her chair as she sipped her tea, pausing long enough to ask a question.
“Any questions or concerns before we end this meeting?”
