Cadet Aili McMorran made haste as she left her small quarters, headed to sickbay. The strict command structure of Starfleet would never suit her free-roaming instincts any better than the confines of a starship but she prided herself on making life as easy as possible those with whom she had professional engagements. If nothing else, getting these things over and done with allowed her to get back to her own business and way of doing things as quickly as possible. In this case she had made the rare mistake of being short on time, having become fixated on the view of Earth from her window. Her thoughts lingering on how long it would be before she returned home had distracted her from her coming appointment.

Slightly overshooting the doors to sickbay, she retreated a few steps before turning to face the door and quickly fixing her hair. Stepping forwards through the parting doors, she scanned the room until she recognised a figure as the CMO. Stepping towards them, she announced herself: “Cadet McMorran, reporting for physical”.

OOC: Is the ship in Earth orbit/spacedock. More generally, is there a way I can check the current status/location of the ship? :)

The first person McMorran lay eyes on would be a tall Trill. Her long blond hair was tied back into a neat ponytail and a broad, genuine smile lit up her face. At the Cadet’s words, she crossed the few meters that separated them and said, “Welcome aboard the Challenger! I’m Ensign Yana Priel, one of the medical technicians on board. Why don’t you take a seat on one of the biobeds and I fetch one of the doctors to take care of your boarding evaluation?” Without waiting for a reply she turned on her heels and headed across the room towards the nearest doctor.

“Right you are!”, Aili replied to the back of the technicians head. She made her way to the nearest biobed and sat herself on its edge.

OOC: Welcome aboard! Uh, I’m actually not sure, I’ll ask! I’d hazard a guess of maybe somewhere on the message of the day board?

IC:
It was Mika who who Ensign Priel happened to have found, a tall, skinny woman with dark chestnut hair stylized into a pixie cut. She wore a friendly smile as she strolled in, though really, she was quite anxious herself. She hadn’t yet done an onboarding physical, but well, she had to do it eventually, right? So, here she was. Here goes nothing, as they say.

“Cadet McMorran, right?” She asked, looking at him.

“That’s me”, McMorran responded.

“Welcome aboard! Please, have a seat and we’ll get started here.” She thought she sounded a bit too… almost automated, so she tried to relax her speaking pace. “I’m Cadet Mika, nice to meet you!”

“Likewise”, McMorran responed in a professional tone, as she pulled herself up to take a proper seat on the side of the biobed. “Brilliant”, Aili thought, “this Doctor seems the efficient type”.

“So”, she put forward to the Doctor, “what do you need from me first?”

OOC: So I did check into that for you, and yep, assuming your ship captain keeps it updated, it will be on the MOTD board - that’s the homepage of the ship :)

IC:
Mika grabbed a tricorder and a PaDD, pulling up the Cadet’s medical file. “Just a few questions for you. Is there anything I’d need to know? That wouldn’t be here already? Anything like, an injury or an illness. Oh, or a trip out of the Federation, perhaps?” She asked. It was a bit rocky, certainly still a bit robotic, but she got the point across. She was determined to stumble through this whole thing, knowing that later on, it would get easier. “Were there any changes in your diet or sleeping patterns?” She finished, looking to McMorran for her answers. She wasn’t overly friendly, trying to keep professional. Besides, she knew nobody really liked answering all these questions.

OOC: Cheers! I see it now. Also, Aili is a she :P

IC: “It should all be there”, Aili responded, with a feigned smile, before continuing in a monotone voice: “I broke my left ankle as a child and my right arm in the Academy. I used to catch a bunch of chest infections back home. Out of the Federation? Not yet, unfortunately.” She paused, raising an eyebrow and donning a smirk: “I had seconds for my tea last night; twice the stew. Should I be concerned?”

OOC: Whoops, sorry! Edited that. So, since this is your character that’s being scanned, and there’s no GM in this thread, you get to decide what the scanner shows :)

IC:
Mika let out a quick laugh, shaking her head. “No, not at all.” She said. She opened the tricorder, taking the little node thing and began scanning the Cadet slowly, watching the screen.
