Korczak walked through the doors of sickbay, still carrying the bag he had arrived on board with. As he entered, he looked around the room at the various people moving about. Rather than disturb anyone, he took a seat just inside the door and waited. After a few minutes, an Ensign stopped and asked “Hello, Sir. How may I be of assistance?” to which Korczak replied “I would like to speak to the Chief Medical Officer, when they have a moment. And I also need to have my on-boarding physical done. The two need not be simultaneous unless that is easiest for the Medical staff.” His words were accented in an odd fashion, but his diction and pronunciation were impeccable. The Ensign nodded, tapped a few notes into a PaDD, and said “Someone will be with you momentarily.”

“Of course, Davidson. Thank you,” A young Trill removed themselves from a nearby corner, walking alongside a human male, who stood roughly three or four inches taller than she. His prematurely greyed hair created the perfect illusion of being much older than he was, but the youth shone within his eyes, the moment he turned from the doctor. Making her way past the oxymoronic man, Obiah was stopped by the Ensign who had spoken to Korczak. Watching as he motioned towards the man, they nodded and pat his shoulder as if expressing graitude for the notification. Making their way over, the Counselor might find they were.. different, in appearance. Their dark, ebony skin was counteracted by, instead of dark spots, pale, cream spots. The mark of a Vitiligo Trill. How odd.

“Hello, Commander.” The non-binary offered a hand, “I’m Doctor Obiah Torrirs, what can I do
for you?”

Korczak smiled and stood up, taking her hand in a warm but not forceful handshake. He was a very nondescript human male, brown hair framing a relatively plain but not unattractive face with brown eyes. He wore frameless glasses and had a friendly smile as he spoke. “Hello. I am Dr. Janusz Korczak. I am replacing Lieutenant Commander Sinclair as the new Counselor. I was hoping to speak with you, perhaps in your office if possible, and to have my on-boarding physical performed if your staff has the time?” he asked politely and somewhat formally. His words had an odd accent to them, one most had a hard time placing.

“Of course, right this way, Counselor.” Obiah wondered why the previous counselor had been replaced, but knew it wasn’t their place to ask such questions. Instead, they would simply find themselves in a state of amicability and hospitality towards the new Counselor, as to express welcome to him, while he became acquainted with the ship.

“I can perform the physical after our meeting, so you don’t have to worry about stealing any of my staff from their busy lives.” There was amusement in their tone, as the Trill led Korczak towards their office. While his words had been difficult to decipher, they found even the American accent had been of odd pronunciation. So, they assumed, over time, they would grow accustomed to it.

“How have you been settling in, Commander?” Obiah asked, out of curiosity and politeness. Pausing beside the door, they motioned for the opposing officer to step into their office, prior to them.

Korczak walked in and turned and said “I am afraid I have not yet had the opportunity, I am afraid. I came here directly from the transporter. I have been on board all of ten minutes.” and he laughed softly. “I came here first to discuss how I may be of service to your department Lieutenant, should the need arise.”

“You came to the Sickbay, instead of to the Captain’s readyroom?” Their eyes seemed to be alight with surprise, but no ridicule rested beyond their gaze. “Please, have a seat.” They smiled, rounding the desk, to settled themselves around the corner. “Well, I suppose that depends, what do you specialize in? Besides psychology, of course.” They chuckled, amusedly.
