Looking back up from the tricorder, Tija said, “You are in excellent health, Cadet.” While putting the tricorder on a tray next to her, she continued, “As for keeping in good shape: What everyone should do no matter where they are. And that means regular meals that contain everything the human body needs. Regular exercises of any kind. Enough sleep. And a healthy work-life balance. Do you have any other questions?”

A slight frown appeared on the CMO’s face at the word ‘sir’. She had never liked being addressed with a male title. To be honest, even ‘ma’am’ didn’t feel quite right. Truth was, she didn’t like gendered titles. But she decided not to comment on it, instead she said, “Then - from a medical stand point - you are cleared for duty.” That said, she stepped slightly to the side to give Collins’ space to get off the biobed.

He had watched Tija, and wasn’t quite sure if he had really seen a brief frown. Really, what would she have frowned at? Did she notice something in the scan that might have been a problem? Collins stood up, not quite wanting to face that there may be a problem, and smiled as he moved to stand away from the biobed. “Well Doc, don’t take this the wrong way, but I hope not to see you too often, if you get my meaning.”

OOC> This type of role playing is fairly new to me, please point out any issues or areas where you see I can improve on. At first I was wanting to write these huge posts, but the reality is, unless there is a specific need to develop story or character, do I really need to do that type of thing?

OOC: I think you’re doing really well! As for long posts: it depends. For one it depends on your type of writing. Also, it depends on the thread/situation, and sometimes the character. My CMO on the Challenger isn’t the most sociable person (to put it mildly, lol), so my posts when she interacts with people - especially in a thread like this - tend to be rather short. Whereas if you read the “mean cat, mean ship” side sim on this ship, you’ll see a lot of longer posts. And personally I find it easier to reply to posts that are the length of posts in this thread or longer. I generally really struggle replying to one-liners as they give me close to know context. Though again, there are moments when those are perfectly fine as well. Is that helpful?

Also, as you can see, I “snipped” the post. We do that to keep threads from getting too long. You simply delete older posts and the corresponding “post by” lines and put the word (snip) in it’s place. (And by clicking on the “parent” button all old post are still accessible.)

IC:
A small, lopsided smile crept on Tija’s freckled face. “I definitely get the meaning. And I can return the sentiment: I’m glad about every person I don’t see in here outside of routine check-up as that generally means that they are healthy.” As she spoke, she brushed an non-existing lose strand behind her right ear, while subconsciously brushing her fingertips first across her scar and then her earring.
