Her smooth dealing complete, Emmy carefully positioned the remainder of the deck in front of her. “You each have $1,000 in chips in front of you in various denominations.” She then turned her attention to the CE, who was first up for this round of betting. “You may fold, where you pay nothing, or you may call, where you meet the big blind amount of $10, or you may raise by doubling amount of the big blind. Begin.”

Aizala looked down at the cards in her hands with a slight frown. She still had no real idea how to play this game or if her cards were any good. Yet at the same time she didn’t want to fold right away. And really, there was nothing to lose. Even if she lost the game. So as she put two $5 chips in the middle, she said matter-of-factly, “I call as well.”

Emmy offered a terse nod of approval at Tija as she put the chips in. Her eyes next rested on the XO, noting that then only the CSO remained in this round of betting.

Max watched Tija toss her chips into the pot. Without missing a beat, he picked up two $5 chips and tossed them into the pot. “Call.”

It was a decent enough hand, and early enough in the game, that it was definitely worth the bet. So might as well act decisively.
