Lieutenant Vras’s voice came over the bridge’s com at that point.
=^= Vras to Challenger. I’m ready to re-calibrate Potterfield’s environmental controls. It is going to get cold and dry around here - much like a summer heatwave back home on Andoria. I’ll do my best to keep the effect away from Sickbay and the cargo bay. Ready to start on your orders. =^=
-Lt. Keval Vras, CE
=/\= Do it. =/\= came the simple reply.
Emmy stopped in front of her chair on the bridge and settled back into it, forcing herself to visibly relax as she waited for the outcome of the CE’s efforts.

Nosy continued a moment then nodded to Davis. “You can try, Ma’am,” he reported stepping away from the duty station to allow the CO access to pull up the records if she wanted to try.

‘Well, that would give her something to do,’ Emmy thought to herself as she rocked back onto her feet and made her way over to the console. Her fingers danced across as she entered her access codes and then waited to see if anything else popped up. There was a small twinge of hope, but she fully expected that she would be locked out of the information as well.

After a moment the comms station reported back, “Captain, there is a priority message for you from… from Rear Admiral Leska.” The poor cadet swallowed hard as she relayed the information.
On the console however there was a quick flash of information before the CO was also locked out. Quick eyes showed that it was some where in the galactic south of the Alpha quadrant. Beyond that, Davis would need help, or luck, to figure out more.

Emmy let out a huff of annoyance as she quickly interpreted the results. She strode away from the console to the center of the bridge, where she crossed her arms across her chest and stood with her feet slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. “On screen,” she demanded. She had a nagging suspicion that this was connected to her attempts to access the information, but she had a right to know how to solve this issue and it seemed that the file might contain that information.

“Captain,” came the Hungarian tenor from the flag officer on the other end of the message. He was wearing the whites of mess dress and the pips of a rear admiral. He looked exhausted and perhaps a little drunk. “I suppose I should thank you for pulling me away from that dreadfully boring dinner party, and yet, I am annoyed that it was because someone was trying to get places you shouldn’t be.”
He sighed, “What is the status of your salvage mission?”
GM Wombat
Emmy resisted the urge to roll her eyes at the flag officer in front of her. If she’d had the information she needed to ensure the successful and safe completion of the Challenger’s mission, she wouldn’t have been poking around for it and this admiral would be happy engaged in his overuse of alcoholic beverages.
“Whatever the Potterfield was carrying has abducted several members of my crew. My XO is currently engaged in negotiations for their safe return. I require the complete history of the cargo the Potterfield was carrying so as to ascertain the situation that he is dealing with.” Her tone left little room for negotiation in it.
=^= Captain. I have made contact with their leader. She is sending someone to investigate why it is getting cold in here. =^=
Cmdr. Harkness - XO
A discreet hand signal muted the events on the Challenger from the prying eyes of the admiral as Davis turned her back to the view screen. Her facial expression belied her unpleasant reaction to that news.
=/\= Acknowledged. Davis out. =/\= came her simple reply, not wanting to provide any information that the leader could overhear.
=/\= Davis to Vras. Representatives of the hostile race will arrive at your position imminently. What’s your status? =/\=
Davis, CO
=^= The ship is beginning to cool, except for Sickbay and Cargo Bay 3. It will take time for the ship to cool down completely. I could increase power to the environmental systems, which might speed up the process, but I can’t predict what will happen given the compromised power distribution system =^=
After a pause, Vras’s voice over the comm again. =^= Any idea when our plant friends are going to get here. I doubt they will be happy to see what I’m doing. =^=
-Lt. Keval Vras, CE
Emmy turned back to the cadet again who had been handling all of her requests. “Can you track the life signs on the Potterfield and estimate the arrival time of the hostiles?”
=/\= Increase the power as much as you feel comfortable, Lieutenant. I’ll be back to you with a time estimate… =/\=
A nod at the comms officer returned the commodore to the view screen.
Leska smirked a moment as he leaned back, one eye sagging in a drupe. “I doubt very much that your whole crew carries sufficient clearance. I will have the redacted file sent to you using your CO credentials to decrypt.” He paused a moment then rested his eyes before opening them again, “And if you do this again, or abuse the information provided to you, the Commandant and I will be having a long discussion regarding the future of your commission, yes? There is a penal colony near Terell that is in sore need of a Warden that I think would be a good fit for your skill set. Or maybe the listening post at Malgor five. Very high clearance to sit out on the other side of Cardassian space. Quite the long trip to get there.” With that the Admiral ended the communication.
A few moments later the promised encrypted report arrived at the Challenger.

Emmy’s head tilted to the side in confusion as the image of the commodore disappeared from the view screen. If she was going to get into trouble for ensuring her crew had as much information as possible to keep themselves safe, perhaps this command experiment wasn’t for her. She shook her head and then looked at the ranking officer on the bridge.
“You have the bridge, I’ll be in my ready room.”
