Smith had been bubbly and friendly until this moment, but her gaze darkened slightly at Tanner’s words. “You’re only proving my point. Why would you choose to join an institution that requires so many adjustments if you feel it’s full of those who support traders and mercenaries who kidnap and sell other people? At the very least, if you feel that is accurate, which it is not, you are submitting yourself to those same ideals.”

The doors slid open and nondescript human male entered the room. Lieutenant Commander pips rested on the collar of his blue uniform, and a set of glasses were perched upon his nose. The man was unremarkable in almost every way other than the spectacles, but he looked at both individuals and said “My apologies for the interruption. Cadet Smith, thank you for taking the time to begin the assessment. Would you please be so kind as to ensure that all the file have been updated and inform the XO that all assessments are complete save one.” and he looked at TJCT. “I am Lieutenant Commander Janus Korczak. Again, my apologies. I was wrestling with an important matter. Would you please be so kind as to follow me to my office? We can continue your assessment there.” and he gestured out the door to a close door on the other side of the small waiting area.
His accent was thick, but understandable. It was odd, though. In the sense that it was almost impossible to determine what kind of accent it was. In reality, it was as if multiple accents were vying for dominance.

TJCT followed the man shrugging at the cadet. She had to wonder what had drawn him into the mix. She’d never heard the accent before, but she was curious over what he wanted.

Smith beamed at her superior officer and then gestured for Tanner to go with him. “I’ll leave you in Commander Korczak’s capable hands!” she finished with an enthusiastic smile before returning to her other work.
Smith, CNS
TJCT did exactly that.

The Counselor led the Cadet to, and through, a door across the waiting area.
Th office on the other side of the door was unlike any area in the rest of the ship. It was lit in a more subdued manner than the rest of the ship, with the light coming from wall lamps rather than the typical overhead lighting. Multiple bookcases with glass enclosed shelves lined one wall, filled with copies and originals of many texts on many different subjects, and a quick glance would show multiple languages as well. The desk was set at an angle against the opposite wall to the door in the corner, allowing for a large open space in the middle. Here there was a couch and a few chairs, one of which sat in front of and facing away from the desk. Pictures hung on the walls, some were even old photographs. Each depicted either places, individuals, or groups of people, and many were in black and white.
Taking a seat in the single chair facing the seating area, the Lieutenant Commander said “Please. Make yourself comfortable. You can help yourself to something to drink, if you like.” and indicated the replicator on the far wall.

TJCT sat, she ignored the offer of the replicator. The glasses he wore looked decidedly fake, something that some one who wanted to hide something would wear. The accent sounded like his voice was being modified by a voice muddler. Whether he was a counselor or not was something that would come to light, but for now she didn’t trust him as far as he could be thrown. He’d be killed if he landed on Coolac, he was as far from a male, a Coolac male as one could get.

Unlike most in his position, Korczak had no PaDD to take notes or any kind of recording device. He simply sat and looked at TJCT and waited in silence for a moment. After a few moments, he said “I will apologize in advance if Smith covered any of this prior, but bear with me if you would be so kind. And we can get started right away… what brought you to Star Fleet, Cadet?”
