Smith had been bubbly and friendly until this moment, but her gaze darkened slightly at Tanner’s words. “You’re only proving my point. Why would you choose to join an institution that requires so many adjustments if you feel it’s full of those who support traders and mercenaries who kidnap and sell other people? At the very least, if you feel that is accurate, which it is not, you are submitting yourself to those same ideals.”

The doors slid open and nondescript human male entered the room. Lieutenant Commander pips rested on the collar of his blue uniform, and a set of glasses were perched upon his nose. The man was unremarkable in almost every way other than the spectacles, but he looked at both individuals and said “My apologies for the interruption. Cadet Smith, thank you for taking the time to begin the assessment. Would you please be so kind as to ensure that all the file have been updated and inform the XO that all assessments are complete save one.” and he looked at TJCT. “I am Lieutenant Commander Janus Korczak. Again, my apologies. I was wrestling with an important matter. Would you please be so kind as to follow me to my office? We can continue your assessment there.” and he gestured out the door to a close door on the other side of the small waiting area.

His accent was thick, but understandable. It was odd, though. In the sense that it was almost impossible to determine what kind of accent it was. In reality, it was as if multiple accents were vying for dominance.

TJCT followed the man shrugging at the cadet. She had to wonder what had drawn him into the mix. She’d never heard the accent before, but she was curious over what he wanted.

Cadet TJCT - engineering

Smith beamed at her superior officer and then gestured for Tanner to go with him. “I’ll leave you in Commander Korczak’s capable hands!” she finished with an enthusiastic smile before returning to her other work.
